The King and I

What harvest has been brought in?  What seeds will you gather today for your future plantings?  What crops will benefit you best in the coming seasons?  This is the time of year to reflect on your past efforts and look forward to a future of stronger reaping.   Harvest season is almost here.  Do you have all you need today to best prepare yourself for a better tomorrow?

The K  night of Disks in the Thoth tarot is called the King of Pentacles in other decks.  This card shows the attitude of a surefooted future.   Sitting on his stead, the confident and trusting ruler over his domain looks into his field and can already tell you what is to come.  Even his stallion is relaxed, suggesting in his gaze a subtle reflection on the past.  There’s no war here, just labor and fruit.  Here is a man of patience and determination.   He

almost looks like he’s just waiting for something to happen, but seemingly he knows that he’s the one who makes things happen.

His quality is that of the Fire of Earth, like molten magma this man can turn up mountains out of nowhere.  He’s a master of wealth indeed, and he knows exactly when to rest and exactly when to bound like Capricorn does.  This card is about managing our resources with conviction, making ourselves comfortable and honoring tradition.

When court cards arrive in readings, sometimes they represent the people around us – but almost always, they arrive to tell us to look for some particular character within us.  With this card, the lesson arrived at is that slow and steady wins the day.
