The Truth About Death
Some readers it seems want only to speak to you about good news. They work diligently to tell you no bad news even if they see it with obvious clarity. They work so hard at this that if they are tarot readers they have even convinced themselves that the cards have meanings contrary to what they actually are saying! Death is not a butterfly arriving out of a cocoon, Death is an ending and that which has died will never return - although many writers will tell you that as shown in the Waite version of the Tarot, there are three ways we can view death (as a Bishop trying to appease it, as a woman in denial, or as a child offering love), but there remains one certainty about Death: it is final.
Of course the Death card doesn't actually mean physical death itself, it is symbolic death - and like all forms of death, this creates the potential for something new to grow out of it, even if this something new is actually absence itself. But to hear your reader skip over this card with a minor wave of the hand and say, "oh it is nothing, it means roses will bloom, it means transformation takes place" is to be sold a fairy tell and risk facing the dreadful event unprepared (and even miss the opportunity for the promised transformation). It means your reader hasn't given you the full work you have paid for.
When you call upon me for a reading I will tell you exactly what cards have come to my table. I won't candy coat them for you but instead will tell you truthfully where the reading has gone and why. If you call about your career life and I can see that the company you work for is headed for troubled waters, you want to know that in advance and how to prepare yourself to not be among the downsized and downtrodden. If I see that the lover you are interested in intends to stab you in the back with your best friend, I'm not giving you a "self-fulfilling prophecy," I'm warning you of dangers in your very home. If I see risks or even loss for you, you've come to me to discover these and to make adjustments so you can either prevent them from occurring or you can have your life boat readied for boarding when the time comes.
It doesn't serve us when a reader puts on her rose colored glasses before sharing with us what the cards are offering, and I can't imagine that that is what you would want to pay for. It is not meant to be offensive or hurtful when I describe to you matters that need your attention or warrant your caution, it is meant to be advisory as that is what I am convinced you are calling me for. If you believe that a tarot reading is just self-fulfilling prophecy, I advise you and caution you to save your money, put on a soothing soundtrack, and hypnotize yourself to believe whatever you choose. If you seek empowerment with both the good news and the bad news, and a means with which to do something about it (or minimize the damage at the least), then a solid reading from an advisor on Keen here such as myself is a great prescription.
It isn't all bad news anyway, and even when it is it is my intent to put you in the best frame possible to overcome or survive, to make the best of tomorrow for yourself (yes, unfortunately some events are not avoidable, but it is possible to make the best of it).
Call me if you seek an honest tarot reading without the kind of sugar candy found hidden beneath rainbows and behind unicorns. Call me if you want to arm yourself against confrontations that may scar you. Call me and the truth will set you free.
