The Greatest Gift You Can Give Anyone Is Choice
Life is a series of choices. Everything we do, say, think or feel we have made a choice either to do or not to do, and most times we will set off a chain of events that require more choices, and we don’t always know the choices we will have to make in advance.
Sometimes we are faced with choices based on someone else’s actions and or choices.
Sometimes we actually force someone to make the same choice as we have made. I don’t know how many times someone has said to me “Oh I heard this brilliant joke, you will love it”.
The choice I then have has changed, if I didn’t like the joke I have to make the choice of whether I tell you the truth or go along with what you want to hear so I don’t hurt your feelings because you have already let me know that you expect me to like the joke, and what should have been a simple choice of liking the joke or not has now become pressured and is no longer about the joke but about how you will react if I am honest and admit I don’t like the joke.
Choice is what makes us individuals and because we don’t always make the same choice as each other doesn’t mean that one of us is wrong, it simply means one of us is choosing to make a different chain of events happen, or it is just taking that bit longer to reach the same choice as you.
Even making the choice of allowing someone to make their own choices will spark off more choices for you to make.
Just because you act a certain way, or say certain things doesn’t mean others have to do the same. You made your choice to do or say something or not as the case may be, now give them the choice whether they reciprocate or not.
Remember for every choice you make there is sometimes another choice you are going to have to make. Some choices are big, some are small, some will involve other people some will only pertain to yourself. Some choices will be simply to do nothing.
Remember if you want to exercise your freedom of choice then you have to give freedom of choice to others.
