RE: Gas Prices

Hi, I thought I'd share an e-mail I just received:

My apologies for the length of this note but it does have some merit. For your consideration.

THIS IS NOT THE 'DON'T BUY' GAS FOR ONE DAY, BUT IT WILL SHOW YOU HOW WE CAN GET GAS BACK DOWN TO $1.30 PER GALLON.

This was sent by a retired Coca Cola executive.  It came from one of his engineer buddies who retired from Halliburton.  If you are tired of the gas prices going up AND they will continue to rise this summer, take time to read this please.

Phillip Hollsworth offered this good idea.
This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy gas on a certain day"  campaign that was going around last April or May!
It's worth your consideration.  Join the resistance!!!!

I hear we are going to hit close to $ 4.00 a gallon by next summer and it might go higher!!  Want gasoline prices to come down?

We need to take some intelligent, united action.  The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to "hurt" ourselves by refusing to buy gas.

It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them.
BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can Really work.  Please read on and join with us!

By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about $2.00 is super cheap.  Me too!  It is currently $2.98 for regular unleaded in my town.

Now that the oil companies and the e OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at $1.50 - $1.75, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace..not sellers.

With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action.

The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas!  And, we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves.

How?  Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying gas.

But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a price war.

Here's the idea: For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one),EXXON and MOBIL.

If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices.      If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.

But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and Mobil gas buyers.  It's really simple to do!  Now, don't wimp out on me at this point...keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!

I am sending this note to 30 people.  If each of us send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300) ...  and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x10 = 3,000)...and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth group of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers.
If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted!

If it goes one level further, you guessed it.....  THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!

Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people.  That's all!

(If you don't understand how we can reach 300 million and all you have to do is send this to 10 people....  Well, let's face it, you just aren't a mathematician.  But I am   so trust me on this one.

How long would all that take?  If each of us sends this e-mail out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!!

I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you!
Acting together we can make a difference.

If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on.  I suggest that we not buy from EXXON/MOBIL UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE $2.00 RANGE AND KEEP THEM DOWN.  THIS CAN REALLY WORK.  Consider CITCO also & put Hugo Chavez in the same boat.

# re: RE: Gas Prices

I actually own an oil & gas company and to set the record straight; the "big oil companies"  DO NOT set oil prices or the price of gasoline.  The markets set the prices, we are at the mercy of the markets just like everyone else.  We watch what the price of crude oil and natural gas throughout the day and we also watch the price at the pumps go up and down too.  People think that these oil companies are in control, we are not, we are only in control of our own wells and production, we don't have any control on the prices or taxes on these commodities.  I wish the media would set the record straight or people would educate themselves on this matter.  The oil companies have a business like any other and there are ups and downs, unfortunately or fortunately this market effects all of us in one way or another, but as in everything this is a cylce.  When I first got into the business 7 yrs ago the price of crude oil was about $10/barrel,  I never thought it would hit to over $100/barrel.  And another thing there is so much oil and natural gas in the US that we don't need to rely on other countries, thats something people are not aware of.  I too wish the price of gas would go down, it costs me over $100 to fill up my vehicle.

Hi Sharon,

Yes, over $100 to fill up your gas tank is crazy!  I also have oil heat and since I live in a very cold climate, I am well aware how expensive it is.

I posted this letter because it is circulating the web.  To hear all sides of an issue is beneficial to us all.

RE: your comment:
"I wish the media would set the record straight or people would educate themselves on this matter."

We would like to know the truth, so please, if you understand why, share your knowledge with us.  I would like to know also.  There is so much misinformation (about everything).  Don't wait for the media to report the truth about things.  Changes start with us.  Consumers can only find information if someone is willing to share it--it can start with you.

RE: "The markets set the prices"

Aren't consumers the "markets"?  I mean, isn't it a supply/demand thing?  If there is no/low demand, then the price would drop. If I am wrong, please educate me--I am interested.

Thanks so much for your post.

As for me, I'll keep wearing my sweater until the end of June and walk whenever possible.

God bless you.

Hi Wysteria,

I can give you a brief lesson in the oil biz, There are huge fields in the US that can supply enough oil & gas for the US for years, the problem is that some fo the projects are too small for the "huge oil companies such as Exxon Mobil", most of these companies have criteria like most other types of business and they won't touch a project under $500 million or whatever their guidelines are, it is easier for them to go off shore or overseas, that is big big money quicker.  There are many US oil companies that drill and explore in the USA. Like mine. Again educating oneself in the area is crucial.  As in anything in life.
Your other questions was about the market, I mean market by the selling floor of the NYSE and so on.  Yes we(public)  are a market but oil is in so many things you are probably not even aware of (shampoo, tupperware, etc).  Oil is something we need so we can only dictate the market to a degree, people aren't going to stop driving all together, so unfortunately we aren't in the best situation when it comes to that.  THe government has alot to do with it too, they charge us (oil companies) huge taxes, look at the gas and how much goes to taxes.  Again it's all a business and everyone gets their cut.  One thing to remember that the cost of steel went up, all of our pipes are steel, it is so expensive to drill and put  a well on line.  It also costs over 100k per day for a rig and they are scarce, so many other factors to think about, but then we are also making over $100/barrel too.  I jsut think its an up cycle for us.  And another thing that bothers me is that the media talks about airfare going up due to the high gas prices, this is a bunch of BS, the airlines have futures and their gas prices are set for months down the road, there is no way they operate like you and I and go to the "pumps" ti fill up the plane, the cost of a airline ticket does not depend on the rising gas prices as much as what they would like you think.    I could go on and on but I won't bore you, I think like most things in life, there are always many side to the story/truth, one much educate themselves.  Believe me I am hurting just as much with over $100 per tank of gas and my gas bills for my home this winter ranged $500-600/month.  And I don't think where  I live we had a bad winter.

Thanks for your interest I enjoying talking about my biz and educating people.  Any other questions let me know.

Hi Sharon,

RE: "I could go on and on but I won't bore you"

I am never too bored to learn new things!
Your knowledge is crucial to educating and helping consumers like me to understand.

We can't rely on the media.  :(

Thanks again.
God bless you.

# re: RE: Gas Prices

Education is very important! From all that I have learnt aprox 6 families run the world on an economical level. Ok, so how does that impact us on a day to day level, not really. But if needed to it would. It is only life, we are all simply not leaving here in the physical body, so what. We can't take it with us when we die. It is important that as individuals we choose love. That is the true measure of one. Not the aquired items. I truly get enraged about the fuel costs. I live in Canada and you would not believe the amount of rich natural resources we have. Ludicrous amounts that when used efficiently - my and wow how far can it go! I like to live kind of like one would walk on sand, where the land will clean it up immediately and I only leave this world a better place. Ok, so what, I still drive, not giving that up ever. Love my freedom and this is why I am so angry over the prices. However things being relative:
station owners make single digits in profits per liter or gallon. approx 30 to 40% to taxes. Truth be known the market is what is driving it up as far as I can tell. Wages are crazy, food prices are crazy high, real estate - good grief. Buying a new car or van or truck -omg, how high, well, on the bright side they take a long LONG time to break down. This seems to include food. Hmm what are we feeding ourselves? Another topic! Frightening.Cost of living has gone up, greed is on the rise and look at how much money movies cost to make?! Look at how much we seem to be willing to pay to see a movie, yet our teachers we begrudge paying? And all the while we are being bombarded with ads trying to brainwash us into believing that they have the best product or manipulating us on our health. In my mind it is abused ruthlessly. People are starving and dying of lack of love due to greed. So in the big picture all I see is it is relative. We have allowed this gouging as consumers and there really is no partiular way to stop it in a moment. It is also only an exchange of energy. It will be interesting in my mind to see what happens to the blatent overcharging merchants on the other side of the veil! Most interesting :-)! I simply as you can hear by my words will not give up my power. I know and bless what I spend with gratitude most of the time. I do what I can to make this world a better place. I monitor my emotions because I know I am a mirror for others as they are to me. I do my best to work with love and live my truth. So back to the fuel prices. Hmm, we let this happen by our votes which do count. People kill eachother over this stuff in the name of poitical wars. So Wysteria and Sharon - thanks for letting my blog be here! Hugs and light!!! xxx
