Me, myself and i
Yesterday I went to get propane. The guy who filled the tank gave the person in front of me a tenth of a gallon for free, and then charged me an extra tenth. I was a little irritated, and decided to let it go. Why be a bitch over thirty cents.
After paying, I went out to my car and noticed the guy who received the deal was still pulling out. I got in my car and pulled out. I heard a crunch. I looked around and saw the dismayed face of the same guy. I had rammed into his truck.
I was pissed. I was going to have to pay for the damage. It might raise my insurance rate. He may claim a neck injury. It was going to take time.
I was business like, direct; here's my license, here's my insurance, here's my registration, we can call the cops if you want to. He was a little frail, a little slow. I was further irritated.
It was all about me.
After I got home I realized that he was also a little traumatized. Some chick had just run into him. I felt bad for him. I wanted to do something for him to compensate for putting him through it.
Still, when it happened, it was all about me.
I call myself a Lightworker...
In retrospect I remember Christ's words on the cross. He wanted to know why his "father" had dissed him. I also remember how my teacher dealt with a long letter from a lover which explained all her faults. She wrote one line in repsonse, "I'm not perfect."
Living on the planet is difficult at times. We get caught up in all of the things we want to accomplish and create. We have a hard time stepping away from the "all about me" syndrome.
I'm working on it.
