The Magical Coral Castle: where molten gold lizards roam!

I know I have been telling you what a magical place the Coral Castle is, but I just have to tell you about some things that happened to me while I was vending and doing readings there this weekend. First off, vending is labor intensive and in 85+ degree weather it is worse. By dusk on Saturday I was really exhausted. This is sort of two pronged. My grandmother always made us go to bed during the dusk hours for some vague reason like things were liable to get us. Thus, even when I lived in Latin America and obeyed the siesta time rule, come dusk, I was ready for another nap. Saturday I was ready for a nap, big time! So, George spread the sleeping bag out under a tree for me. Anyone who thinks those things are actually padded has a rude awakening coming.

I am laying there when I had the distinct impression I was being watched. I turned and the other vendors were all busy. I didn’t see any lizards or iguanas staring at me, so I closed my eyes again. The feeling became overwhelming, so I opened my eyes and in the mid layer of the sky I could see these clear, bright, tadpole like things zipping in every direction. My first thought was my blood pressure was going through the roof but I closed my eyes and they were gone. If the visual effect you are having originates in your brain, it will remain after you close eyes because you aren’t actually seeing it. I opened my eyes and there they were, accompanied by some long glob like things that moved very slowly. I watched them for a few minutes and then remembered a UFO documentary I saw years ago where someone had photographed these very things. They had tried to say they were dust. Not at that speed. They would have to be dust in a tornado. Then they said they were a defect of digital cameras. Well, no camera here. The photographer insisted they were creatures of the air that lived in the upper atmosphere. As the dusk became more pronounced, I noticed they were moving upwards by degrees until they disappeared from my vantage point.

Okay, now that was weird, but Sunday held a few more surprises for me. The van we rented broke down and George had to go all the way to the airport to get another one, so I was left to get the two pop-up tents opened up and the merchandise out. There wasn’t nip of a breeze and the gnats were out in full force. I was hot, dripping wet, miserable and had pulled more muscles than I knew I had in my back. That’s what I get for being a short person. By the way, standing on folding chairs in the grass is not going to be OSHA approved any time soon. I had finally finished, collapsed in my chair and was having a cold drink of water when I saw there was a lizard in the tent with me. All Saturday, they had run if I had so much as looked at them and here was one a couple of feet away looking at me. It jumped and landed on a clear bag holding some white papers and it turned to molten gold. I’m not kidding! I just sat with my mouth open, staring. Remember the guy in the terminator series that was made of molten metal? Well, change the color to gold and you have some idea what this lizard looked like. It was glowing. You know how everyone always asks why no one gets a picture of a UFO. Well, here I sit with my camera a few inches away and all I could do was stare. I managed to get up and move a foot sideways to see if it was a trick of light and the lizard was still a glowing, molten mass of gold! So, I just stared and suddenly it leaped up on the side of the tent and it was just a green lizard! What was that about? It stayed with me for a few minutes and had a few gnats for breakfast and then moved onto the trees like a perfectly normal lizard.

That was not the end of the strange things. I was so backed up on readings that people were in line. Finally I did a reading for a nice lady and got a break late in the afternoon. I looked out and there walked an Aztec Warrior in full gear, complete with bright yellow feathers and arm tattoo. What is that? I just watched as this man walked the full distance of our two tents when the lady I just did the reading for runs up and grabs his arm and he changes back to normal. Whoa! If that was a visual hallucination, I can sell this water! I started concentrating on her returning to the booth and minute later she came running back. I told her what I had seen and she confirmed that he was suddenly having severe anger issues whenever anyone questioned him about anything. Why not? This man was reliving a past life where no one who wanted their heart in their chest ever questioned a word he said. He has been studying a strong religious discipline that is the opposite of this life style and suddenly can’t control his emotions. She was lost having married a sweet, pacifist who now is angry, sullen and violent. I don’t know the solution as he is not of my religion or philosophy.

All I really know is, the Coral Castle is one magical place where strange molten gold lizards wander, creatures frolic in air at dusk and people wear their past lives like costumes. I can’t wait until the next Moonfaire to see what else happens.
