Hair Extensions
I am adding this blog to help me to remember that I am beautiful and sexy. I have had hair extensions for 3 years, and today is the day that I have decided to have them removed and be me with my REAL hair.
You know, it's funny, I ALWAYS felt sexy, but I never felt normal, because of my frizzy hair. I didn't feel like I "matched" with everyone else. My mom has frizzy hair and she raised me to be ashamed of it. A few posts back "Jewish Guilt", I shared that when I was 12 and 13 years old, she started dying my hair red and straightening my hair ON THE SAME DAY. A lot of it fell out; and, consequently, it was real short. It would not grow. She would put mayonaise in my hair several times a week. (Ugh). Now that she is older, she is practically bald.
I also created an affirmation a few posts back for hair, and it really works (when I use it).
I straightened my hair and blow dried it with a round brush for many years. About 3 years ago, I got hair extensions and I felt beautiful and normal. Although some of my friends tried to tell me that women in their 50's shouldn't have long hair, I didn't care.
Now, I am tired of them and I want them out. I am going to my hair salon today at 4pm to have my hair extensions removed. I will also be straightening my hair. I am scared. I know when I first get it straightened, it's flat. Will I look beautiful to men?
I met my exboyfriend about a month before I got my hair extensions. My hair was super short and frizzy because of an incident where I had my hair streaked and a huge chunk in back fell out. He still thought I was beautiful. I couldn't straighten it, because I was trying to heal my hair. I moved to Florida at that time and the humid weather made my hair look worse. That is when I got hair extensions.
I absolutely loved them and I even had professional pictures taken of me with my hair.
Well add to this blog in the days ahead. I would love to hear your comments about your hair and your hair extension stories.
ME RIGHT AFTER MY DISASTROUS HAIR STREAKING INCIDENT. OF COURSE, YOU CAN'T SEE THE BACK OF MY HAIR.
