Summer’s first eclipse occurs on Sunday, May 20 at 0 degrees of Gemini.  The eclipse becomes exact at 7:47 PM, EST in the US.

Sunday morning brings a shift in energy as the Sun leaves Taurus and enters the much different sign of Gemini at 8:16 AM. (all times are EST) Situations/events will move faster over the next 29 days, as Gemini energy moves more quickly than slow moving, thought provoking Taurus.

An eclipse in the sign Gemini means a focus on communication and new ideas. These ideas may be unclear, unfocused, and in some cases untrue.  Sometimes ideas may come from the deepest parts of our subconscious mind, and can be very intuitive once they become focused.

As the eclipse moves across the sky, the moon squares Neptune by 10:23 PM.  This is confused, foggy energy indicative of feelings of depression, lack of clarity or incorrect ideas.  On the positive end, it can work well for psychics and others working in the metaphysical field, creative people, and those engaged in spiritual pursuits, which is actually a good use of this energy.

By Monday morning, the moon sextiles Uranus at 7:13 AM bringing new ideas and a fresh perspective. By 2:17PM, however it squares Mars, and Moon-Mars energy is often tired, confused and burned out or angry.  It is Monday! By 10:58 pm, Mercury conjuncts Jupiter and this is a positive transit, indicative of expansive thoughts, ideas and interaction.

Eclipses often bring events into our lives, and exactly how if affects you is determined by where it falls in your personal natal chart.  New moon-solar eclipses are often associated with new beginnings of some type.

Venus retrograded on May 15, and this phenomenon will have a big effect on our love lives. Venus retrogrades every year and a half, and the last time Venus retrograded in the sign of Gemini was April-June of 2004. I always tell clients that during this time, the ‘karma,’ of their relationship often plays out. Retrograde planets often have to do with events that are ‘fated’ to some extent, or otherwise outside of our ability to control. During a retrograde period a planet appears to be moving backward in motion.

A retrograde Venus is not the time to get married, have plastic surgery, or buy expensive products related to beauty, or even art as you may not be satisfied when the planet goes direct. Women driven businesses may see lower sales during this time.

Sometimes during a retrograde you can re-connect with those from your past, and other relationships may end during this period. Love energy seems more difficult and with Venus in Gemini love be approached from a more intellectual viewpoint rather than with warmth and affection.

Relationships that are tottering on the edge may end completely at this time. Situations become revealed for what they are. Some couples will decide to divorce or split and decisions will be made as to the future of the relationship. Other couples will reunite or take things to a deeper level.

Art and creativity can be affected in a positive way at this time. Retrograde planets can mean finding a deeper and more profound energy to work with which can affect those in the creative arts in a positive way.

If you begin a new relationship during a retrograde Venus the love energy may never be totally expressed. The relationship could survive for the duration of the retrograde then shift to another level or end when Venus goes direct. I always liken a retrograde planet to throwing a wild card into the mix.

Venus retrograde is a process. The shadow period when we first began to feel the effects of the retrograde started on April 12. Venus officially retrogrades on May 15, and goes direct on June 27. Another shadow period follows where things are not quite back to normal until July 30.

Venue goes stationary direct at 7 degrees of Gemini on June 27. If this is aspecting a personal planet in your natal chart you may meet a new love during this time, see an increase in your social life or benefit from some type of Venusian activity: love, beauty, art or money!

May 8-22, Venus is trining Saturn and this is a positive transit indicative of connecting with those form the past, or succeeding with money or business. As Venus retrogrades on May 15, however, the situation may shift somewhat as the retrograde energy picks up. June 4-5 Venus squares Mars, and this is a transit indicative of trouble between the sexes, and jealousy may rear its ugly head. June 19, through July 9, Venus sextiles Uranus and this is a transit indicative of exuberance, travel, money and an exciting social life.

Venus was last retrograde October 8-November 18, 2010 in Virgo, and March 6-April 17 in Aries and Pisces in 2009.

Long before the days of Steel Magnolias, there were Iron Buttercups.  An Iron Buttercup is a woman most often associated with the South. She is self possessed, possesses self confidence, and always responds/acts like a lady in public. She understands loyalty, and is willing to give everyone a chance unless they prove her otherwise wrong.  She is generally attractive.  She may not be movie star drop dead gorgeous, but has learned to make the most of what she has. This is a lady with her own mind.  She may or may not always speak it, but make no mistake, this woman is no pushover and everyone knows it.  Men like her because she sets boundaries from the beginning, and an Iron Buttercup knows men don’t go for doormats. (Neither does she)  When a man captures an Iron Buttercups heart, he knows he has something valuable. Such a woman is a challenge, making it all the more appealing to him. Suggested reading-Why Men Love Bitches.

While Iron Buttercups are often found in the South they can live anywhere, and they can be from anywhere.  They’re found throughout all walks of life/social stratas and in all cultures.  Long ago, they were originally born and bred in the South which is why so many of them remain today. Iron Buttercups are seldom found in abusive relationships or for that matter bad relationships with men, at least for very long.  An Iron Buttercup may be divorced, separated, or she may have at one time been in a relationship with a man who was an alcoholic, cheat or abuser, but that’s the past, and a past she will not repeat a second time. An IB can be a bitch, but only if deserved. A woman can become an Iron Buttercup at any point in her life.

Here are the Top 10 relationship tips from the Iron Buttercup Guide to Happiness with Men which has been handed down to women for generations.

1-Never chase a man-Men are the natural born hunters so the chase comes naturally to them. To chase a man defies the laws of Buttercup nature. An Iron Buttercup knows the only relationships worth pursuing are with men who are interested in her. (This does not mean a woman can never take the lead) A wise old Iron Buttercup said, "Men are hunters, women are gatherers: let the man hunt you!! Gather the benefits".

2-Never call, text, Facebook, or email a man incessantly.  One text perhaps, one call until he returns communication. And only if you have reason to believe he is interested in you. Preferably, he contacts you. Many Iron Buttercups NEVER call a man unless returning a call.

3-If he doesn’t return the communication back off. Don’t continue to try and communicate with a man who is clearly not interested. If he was interested, he would call.

4-If you have been dating someone who suddenly disappears, shows a lack of interest or starts dating someone else, back off.  Hold your head high, stifle the instinct to cry and go into an emotional spin and get on with your life instead! The next and better man is just around the corner! This is your mantra, use it generously. And Never, never, never, put your life on hold to wait for a man to come back around!

5-Drop him like a hot potato if he abuses alcohol or drugs on a regular basis-it will only get worse.  If he abuses you physically or emotionally, mistreats you, is a sex addict, makes fun of you, or treats you in a condescending manner. If he lies to you, wants money, or you find him active on a dating site after establishing an intimate relationship, drop him. Look up the words narcissist, addiction, and psychotic and Understand what they mean.

6-Drop him like a hot potato if he mistreats your children, parents, or family.

7-Every man you meet is not your soul mate. Every man you are interested in will not become your husband/boyfriend.  You have to kiss a lot of frogs to meet a prince.  Meeting your next husband or soul mate is not an everyday occurrence, and not every relationship will work out. Learn the art of moving on gracefully instead of holding on. No one said it was easy, but it is necessary if you want to find the right man and insure your own happiness.

8-Never give up your own interests. Don’t put your life/interests on hold for a man.  Don’t give up your interests in the pursuit of him/his interests.  An Iron Buttercup knows a woman with her own interests is an attractive one who has something to talk about.

9-If you choose to date a married or otherwise committed man, understand you roll the dice, you take your chances.  This is a risky situation at best, likely to end in a train wreck. If it does not work out move on, and do not be bitter.  Understand that married men seeking other women often lie or change their minds. Naiveté is not attractive if you are over 25.

10-The Golden Buttercup Rule-You must love yourself first. You must protect yourself and not put yourself in bad situations. If you are in a bad situation that causes unhappiness, get out of it now!

May is a big month, astrologically speaking. The Uranus-Pluto Square becomes closer to being exact, the first eclipse of the summer occurs in Gemini, and Venus- the planet that rules our love life- goes retrograde. All of these events will come into play this month and the retrograde of Venus will have a big effect on our love lives.

A retrograde Venus is not the time to get married, have plastic surgery, or buy expensive products related to beauty, or even art as you may not be satisfied when the planet goes direct. Sometimes during a retrograde you can re-connect with those from your past, and other relationships may end during this time. Love energy seems more difficult and with Venus in Gemini love be approached from a more intellectual viewpoint than one with warmth and affection.

Venus goes retrograde May 15-June 27.  It retrogrades at 23 degrees of Gemini and it goes direct at 7 degrees of Gemini.  If either of these positions are connecting with a personal planet in your natal chart, it can have a profound effect one way or another.

Uranus squares Pluto much of this year and until 2016, and this is a transit that will change the power structures of the world we live in, just as the transits during the 1960’s changed the world. Any time major outer planets are in conflict with each other the world will experience change and upheaval. This is an angry, volatile transit indicative of sudden and unexpected explosions and explosive situations around the globe and at home in the US. In the US chart, this powerful square (square=conflict/struggle) falls directly on the US natal Venus. Venus rules money, women and values. Thus, the US is in conflict over exactly how it values women, and Pluto-Venus transits coincide with periods of being forced to decide exactly what the values are. Pluto transits represent power struggles, (and sex!) and the ‘War on Women,’ that is being promoted by political groups is literal.  There are those who would take away choices from women and their ideology is being pushed under the guise of religion. Of course, Venus-Pluto transits also relate to money, and if you follow the trail of those advocating taking away freedoms from women you will find that money is at the root core of all things.

Aside from values concerning women, the Pluto-Uranus square relates to struggles with money/business and the corporate power structure within America. Unemployment/underemployment is still high. Americans are being controlled by big business and big government, and the question is how much more of it we are going to take. We are dependent upon big oil to drive down the street.  We are dependent upon big insurance companies for health care, and Wall-Mart is now one of the biggest distributors of groceries, not to mention employees at $8.00 an hour. Our power to affect our own lives is being taken away daily by corporations and regressive legislation at the State level, which is paid for by corporate power structures. Never has the phrase, ‘he who has the gold makes the rules,’ been more applicable. Americans are being held captive by big business/governments and altruism is not a part of their makeup. The war between the majority and the 1 per cent will go on. According to a recently published French blog, everything we consume is now controlled by 10 companies, the press is controlled by 6 companies, and 37 banks have been merged in two decades. There is more than one type of dictator in this world.

The first eclipse of the summer occurs on May 20, at 0 degrees of Gemini. It is a solar eclipse, and Gemini is the natural ruler of the third house of communications and rules speech, travel, and younger people, making these areas our focus. The eclipse squares Neptune, creating a potential for deceptive communication and situations, or lack of clarity in events, as well as water related weather events. Mercury conjuncts Jupiter, an overall positive transit but things may be blown out of proportion. Astrologer Celeste Teal calls this eclipse, “Property Agreements,” and writes, “For the USA, a treaty may be involved. Visiting ambassadors. There are troubling uncertainties, and unsettling times. An underestimation of efforts risks failure. Mars overhead shows quarrels and conflicts, warlike themes and/or military involvement.  Mercury shows complicated situations and communication obstacles over high cost matters: prosperous potential. Concerns: finance and material. Crime rate changes, railway or mechanical accidents.  Risky speculation.”

Following are additional transits of interest during May:

May’s full moon occurs on May 5, at 11:35 PM EST, at 16 degrees of Scorpio, and it is considered a ‘Supermoon.’. A Supermoon is a full/new moon making its closest approach to the earth on it’s elliptical orbit, leading to the term coined by Astrologer Richard Nolle 30 years ago. Some astrologers believe Supermoons may be associated with increased risks of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. This moon works best for water and some earth signs. Scorpio is the most intense of signs, so nothing about this moon will be superficial. Scorpio is associated with sex and Mercury sextiles Venus giving this full moon potential for connecting with someone special or a positive time for your social life! Unfortunately, on the same day Mercury opposes Saturn. Oppositions mean the problem generally comes from another individual, so it is through interaction with others or communication with others you may feel limited. The transit is tiring, and will have a greater affect is it is hitting a personal planet in your chart at 23-24 degrees of Libra/Aries.  The transit moves quickly, only a few hours in duration.  My advice is to try and go with the positive!

Mercury enters Taurus May 9 and this will change the flow of communication and ideas. Speech, and decision making will slow down and people will give more thought to their answers. May 13, the Sun conjuncts Jupiter, and this is a positive transit. Jupiter is about expansion, so make the most of this day. May 15, Venus retrogrades. May 20, the Sun enters Gemini. Gemini is the natural ruler of the third house of communication and travel, and there may be more focus on these areas. May 23-24, the Sun squares Neptune. This transit may be positive for creativity or metaphysics, but clarity may be lacking.  At its worse this transit can uncover lies, and it can be tiring. May 24, Mercury enters Gemini, changing the Mercurial energy once again, from slow to fast.  Thinking and decision making will pick up speed over the next 29 days. May 25, Mercury squares Neptune. Neptune generally relates to confusion and lack of clarity and this may be a discouraging day, but good for uncovering previously unknown facts. May 27, the Sun conjuncts Mercury and Sextiles Uranus, and this is a positive transit for communication, speaking and new inspiration!

A supermoon occurs when a full moon/new moon makes its closest approach to the earth on it’s elliptical orbit, leading to the term coined by Astrologer Richard Nolle 30 years ago.  Sunday’s full moon is considered a ‘Supermoon,’ and it is at 16 degrees of Scorpio. It will peak on May 5, at 11:35 PM EST, and  this should be the brightest full moon of the year, and should be quite a sight for skywatchers!

Scorpio is the most intense of signs, so nothing about this moon will be superficial. Scorpio is associated with sex and money, and Mercury sextiles Venus giving this full moon potential for connecting with someone special or a positive time for your social life!

Some astrologers believe supermoons may be associated with increased risks of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. Astrologer Richard Nolle posted his thoughts on this “supermoon,” on his website. "with a Mars (Max)-Neptune opposition in effect at the time, this particular SuperMoon augurs something extra, something in addition to the typical elevated SuperMoon risk of strong storms, extreme tides and news-making seismic activity (M 5+ earthquakes and volcanic eruptions). There’s something here about disruption to energy supplies, chemical accidents or attacks, and/or acts of violence that have geopolitical consequences. How much of this is weather related or seismically-induced – and some of it probably will be - and how much is owing to mishap or malice (particularly covert action), remains to be seen. But whatever disruption may occur will likely be even more problematic due to weather issues.”

Dick Clark was born on November 30, 1929 in Bronxville, NY. He passed away April 18, after minor surgery. He had a Scorpio Ascendant and a 29 degree Scorpio moon, making him an emotional Scorpio with a passionate inner life. That said, he was just barely a Scorpio moon, as it is less than one degree away from the sign Sagittarius, giving him emotional traits of both signs. Individuals with a Sagittarius moon are usually upbeat, freedom loving and generally happy-as long as they don’t feel confined. His Venus is also in Scorpio at 21 degrees, giving him a confident and intense nature, and making his passionate about his chosen craft.

Clark has 3 planets in Sagittarius: his Sun at 7 degrees, Mars at 8 degrees and Mercury at 9 degrees. With Mars and Mercury in the sign of ‘wide open spaces,’ communication and speech was bound to play an important part in his life. With these three planets together in the most expansive of signs he was destined to dream big, and pursue even bigger dreams. Sun/Mercury/Mars individuals are outspoken and could be a perfectionist in any debate or situation that involves speaking. He had an analytical mind, and great condor, that could be irritating to some. Sagittarians are known for being brutally honest. This type of individual would excel in a field requiring adept speech and love to share his/her views. These three planets in Sagittarius opposing his Jupiter in Gemini gave him eternal youth as a result of a lifelong desire to keep up with the times and learn new things.

Neptune falls in Clark’s tenth house of career at ten degrees of Virgo. Neptune rules the creative arts, and Virgo would make him a perfectionist. Mercury opposing Jupiter gave him the gift of gab, a constant interest in current trends and a desire to know and understand future events in his business. Mars squares Neptune in his chart, and this transit provides an inner dream world and is the soul and inspiration often found in a true artist.

Uranus falls squarely in his fifth house of creativity and love affairs. Uranus in this house would denote a career in the entertainment business or involving creativity. Individuals with a prominent Uranus often follow a very unusual career path. Uranus trines his Sun/Mars/Mercury giving him charisma and sparkle and making him adept at finding opportunities. Uranus sextiling Jupiter was destined to give him financial success and wealth. Uranus in the fifth might denote unusual experiences relating to love affairs, and many of them might not be permanent. Dick Clark was married three times.

Saturn lies at 1 degree of Capricorn, giving him a great head for business. It falls in his second house of money. Individuals with this transit will work hard for their money and often accumulate more of it as they get older.

Clark got his start on a televised show called Bob Horn’s Bandstand in 1952. When Horn left the show Clark took over as full time host on July 9, 1956. Through his efforts the show was picked up and distributed by ABC. At the time he took over as host of the show Jupiter was sextiling Saturn in his second house of money. Jupiter is the money planet and this transit went a long way toward helping his success. Within months Uranus would trine his Sun, a transit that often brings some of the biggest opportunities of a lifetime. By the next year Uranus would sextile his Jupiter bringing financial success as well.

Clark’s success in life could be predicted by his natal chart, and the timing of transits at the start of his career meant he was in the right place at the right time, along with the talent to succeed.

Dick Clark brought his own brand of creativity to the music world and was loved millions. Goodbye, Dick Clark, you will be missed!

Two planets go direct in April, and both affect our day to day lives and activities.  Mercury, the planet of communication, travel and speech goes direct April 4, at 23 degrees of Pisces.  This is known as the ‘stationary direct,’ period that occurs April 3-5.  At this time the retrograde energy often seems worse as the Winged Messenger prepares to move forward.  Expect glitches to surface, miscommunications to occur and machinery and situations to break down. New information may come to light, and events may go in a different direction than previously thought, or situations may change.  The ‘shadow direct,’ period of retrograde Mercury occurs April 6- April 23.  Slowly things will return to normal, and move forward at a regular pace.  Author Carol Rushman writes about the stationary direct period, “When Mercury stations in Pisces, the negative qualities of Mercury can surface, because Mercury is not comfortable in this sign. There can be replays of sad times and experiences from your past. You may have bouts of depression and paranoia.  It is difficult to stay abreact of the joy and beauty in life. You are instead more inclined to look at the dark side. Artistic ability, compassion and psychic talents can be easily expressed.” The planet of communication will move forward at a normal pace after April 23.

Mars, the planet of action and the God of War, goes direct on April 13, at three degrees of Virgo.  Mars rules action, physical energy, and men. It is in the sign Virgo, the natural ruler of the sixth house of health and work.  Projects/situations have been put on hold, and in some cases health issues uncovered. It has been more difficult to assert ourselves and move forward, as blocks have occurred everywhere.  In the US health care/insurance coverage has come under the microscope, and the public awaits the Supreme Court decision on whether or not the Obama health care mandate will remain or be repealed in whole or in part. Such is the realm of retrograde Mars in Virgo.

You may have noticed around the end of January a lag in energy and lack of clear focus and direction, especially in career matters.  Some projects may be on hold, and you may have not followed the plan you had in early January. Some relationships situations took a turn for the worse, or became unclear as to whether or not they would continue.  Mars, the planet ruling action and men went retrograde January 24, at 23 degrees of Virgo. It goes direct again on April 14, at three degrees of Virgo. At this time expect relationships, projects and situations to pick up steam, and projects you may have thought were dormant may begin to move forward at this time, and your focus and decision making will become clearer.

Virgo is a mutable sign, adaptable to many circumstances.  It is considered the most analytical and critical of signs and during the retrograde you may have noticed people with overly critical attitudes, pickiness, and obsessiveness that could include yourself.  This is due to the fact these qualities are manifest in a planet retrograding in Virgo.  This has not all been bad.  This has been a time of serious analysis and consideration of many matters, and has put issues under the microscope to reveal flaws and problems. As Mars goes direct the over analyzing, criticism and negativity will start to lift and return to a normal level.

Mars will be in the ‘shadow direct,’ period until it reaches 23 degrees on June 20, at which time it will resume normal speed.  It is interesting to note the Supreme Court decision on health care is not expected until late June as Mars leaves it’s shadow period. The last scheduled day of the Court’s 2011-12 term is June 25, and because of a backlog of cases, the Obama health care ruling is expected to be one of the last decisions to be announced! The Supreme Court’s decision will be revealed to us as Mars ends it’s shadow period in Virgo. Yes, astrology does work!

As planets retrograde and move forward it is all a process, not just a day. On April 13, Mars goes ‘stationary direct,’ in preparation of moving forward, and like Mercury in the stationary retrograde period, energy can be negative, critical and actions jumbled. On April 7, Mars reaches it’s final retrograde degree at three degrees of Virgo before the forward movement starts, and it will remain at that degree until April 20.  During this period (April 7-20) Mars is opposing Neptune in Pisces at two/three degrees.  Mars/Neptune transits generally coincide with a period of low energy, negativity, depression, and often individuals find it hard to see the positive side of a given situation. Those with a predisposition to do so may turn to drugs and alcohol. This is a transit of trauma and drama on a large scale, as well as self defeating behavior if it is hitting a sensitive point in your personal natal chart.

On the world stage and in America we may see an increase in protests and clashes with police.  Thundering and passionate sermons may be delivered on the political scene or elsewhere, and it is advisable to believe very little. Mars-Neptune is a transit of lies, deception, and unclear visions. Neptune rules water, and we may see unusual weather conditions and situations that relate to water or fog.

At it’s highest, Mars-Neptune is best used for serving others. It can be a time of creativity, and awareness of the needs of others’ and those less fortunate.  Neptune is an ego-less planet, and combined with Mars, our ego’s can be shattered.  Take the ego out of the picture and this energy will not be self defeating.

Mars begins it’s slow journey through Virgo all over again as it moves forward on April 21.  At this point the God of War will be retracing it’s steps that first began in January. Mars remains in Virgo until July 4, when it enters the sign Libra.  Mars won’t retrograde again until March of 2014 in the sign of Libra.

Pluto begins it’s annual retrograde on April 10, at 9 degrees of Capricorn. As Pluto, the planet of transformation retrogrades its energy becomes internalized, intensifying our desire/need for resolution on subconscious levels. Those with agendas (not all agendas are bad) may go undercover for a while, only to resurface when Pluto goes direct in September. Pluto represents power, that and that which is hidden. While retrograde Pluto gives greater insights into our subconscious, it gives personal transformation a greater boost as we seek to understand that which motivates us individually and collectively.

On April 12, Venus enters it’s ‘shadow period,’ prior to going retrograde on May 15, at 23 degrees of Gemini. During a retrograde Venus period people often reconsider their love relationships, become more insecure about love and situations that might be considered ‘karmic,’ often play out during this period. Venus retrogrades every year and a half.  More on this later!

Uranus square Pluto (Spring of the 99 Per Cent)

The Uranus-Pluto square we are living under is becoming tighter and will be exact for the first time this year June 7-July 9 at 8 degrees of Aries-Capricorn. This will bring change to the world and change to your life if it affecting a personal planet in your own natal chart around 8 degrees of Aries-Capricorn. When Uranus first entered Aries and revolution broke out in the Middle East winter-spring of 2010, it was dubbed “Arab Spring.” I saw this year called “Spring of the 99 per cent,” because frustration in the world has escalated to a point of the 99 per cent, or the majority, versus the 1 per cent or the minority, and I felt it appropriate. Pluto is about power, the ‘powers that be in the world,’ nuclear energy (including bombs) of all types, and oil. Uranus is about revolution, change and the desire of the individual will (in Aries) or the I AM. Uranus often operates through sudden, unexpected and explosive situations and is always the planet involved in revolution. The two planets are in conflict, causing the turmoil in the Middle East, and other places, the polarization of the political parties in America, and the angry masses across the globe.  The end result will be change, but not without a great deal of conflict, anger and frustration.  With this transit we will continue to see geo-political changes, shifts in government and unrest among the masses, and a global call to end dictatorships. The ‘powers that be,’ however, will never go quietly into the night, and are not limited to military dictatorships, and can include different forms of dictators, including those who push the concept of theocracies. A theocracy is only an acceptable government to those whose beliefs it represents. The last time Uranus and Pluto squared each other was the early 1930’s during the time of the great depression, prior to events leading up to WW11. It was during this time Hitler hoodwinked the German population and consolidated his power, and we, as a global world, would do well to remember this.  During the mid-late 1960’s Uranus and Pluto were conjunct and we saw major societal changes, but not without great turmoil, anger, and of course, the Vietnam War was a pivotal factor during these events in America. As they say, ‘freedom is never really free.”

Following are other noteworthy transits during April.  You will feel the energy of these transits in the day or two before it becomes exact, as well as a day or so after.

On April 3, Venus enters Gemini, the sign represented by the twins. When it comes to love Gemini can be fickle and communication will take on new importance. Works best for Air and Fire signs. On April 5, Venus squares Neptune, a confusing aspect, especially when it comes to relationships.  New relationships begun at this time may be deceptive, and it is best to go with the flow and not take things too seriously until this transit passes.  It could be a romantic interlude for some, and confusing, unclear circumstances for others.

The full moon occurs April 6, at 3:19 PM EST, and it is at 17 degrees of Libra. This full moon will be all about relationships. How it will affect you personally depends upon how it is hitting your personal natal chart. Venus is squaring Neptune and within 2 degrees of squaring Mars and this combination is all about interaction with others, sex, and in some cases getting or giving the wrong signals. Venus-Mars transits amp up the sexual energy, but sometimes leads to frustrations, jealousy, and lack of consideration of feelings of others, or vice versa. Full moons have a tendency toward drama, even in the sign of balance and harmony. It’s all about inner peace, and if you can attain this, the full moon energy will not be upsetting. It can be good or bad, again depending upon your personal chart. If your relationship is basically sound you will be fine at the end of the time.  If it is a new relationship or one with tension, you will be more likely to experience turmoil.

April 7, Mars squares Venus, putting the planets ruling men and women in conflict.  Mars-Venus transits deal with intensified feelings and jealousy.  In some cases this can be a sexual combination if conflict does not prevail. (or if it does in some cases) For some it is possible to meet someone new, but it may not be smooth. It can also stimulate creativity, or an urge to buy or acquire things. April 15, the Sun opposes Saturn and this is a restrictive, difficult aspect. As Saturn is in Libra this opposition will play out through relationships, and other people. Saturn is about reality, work and structure, and today you must work within these realms.  A bad relationship could end, and it is not the best day for social activities.  You may experience tiredness, but a good night’s sleep will do wonders. On April 16, Mercury re-enters Aries, after spending the past three weeks in Pisces.  Conversation and mental activity will pick up at a more aggressive pace. Projects and situations that have lagged will start to move now, and it is time to pick up the pace and move forward. April 19, the Sun enters Taurus. This is considered the ‘growth’ time of year, and Taurus is the most stable of signs. Taurus energy is stable but can be stubborn.  The focus will shift to money and possessions.

The New Moon falls at 1 degree of Taurus on April 21. This represents the second new moon of spring, and Taurus is the natural ruler of the second house of money and possessions, and it is here our focus will lie.  Eighth house matters may come into focus as well, that include taxes and debt, other peoples’ money and sex. Mercury is within 2 degrees of conjuncting Uranus, so look for news of unexpected weather conditions, accidents, and verbal communication and thoughts may be very changeable.

April 23 Mercury conjuncts Uranus at 6 degrees of Aries.  This is a transit of sudden and unexpected news, weather conditions and accidents. Look for changeable mental patterns, and sudden changes of mind. We may experience fast moving weather situations, and unexpected news.  Mercury conjuncted Uranus on March 5, and just prior to this we saw a pattern of tornadoes that wrecked havoc and cost lives in Indiana, TN, Ohio and Alabama, and we are at risk again. April 25, Mercury squares Pluto. Mercury-Pluto transits have a way of revealing information, and hidden agendas sometimes come to light.  This is a transit of propaganda, and you may try to convince someone of something or vice versa. This is a good day for getting to the bottom of a matter, but power struggles may prevail.  This transit is often indicative of events that occur involving media.

Many callers have seemed discouraged over the past number of days, and I attribute this to the current Mars-Neptune opposition that is occurring. Mars is known as the God of War, and the Planet of Action. On April 7, Mars reached its final retrograde degree at three degrees of Virgo and it will remain at that degree until April 20.

At its highest, Mars-Neptune is best used for serving others. It can be a time of creativity, and awareness of the needs of others and those less fortunate. Neptune is an ego-less planet, and combined with Mars, our egos can be shattered. Take the ego out of the picture and this energy will not be self-defeating.  Focus on spiritual pursuits, artistic activities or helping others. And remember—this energy too will pass!

(March 1, 2012) Mercury retrogrades at 3 degrees of Aries on March 12.  The shadow period of the retrograde began on February 27, when Mercury reached 23 degrees of Pisces.  The effects of the retrograde have already started to become apparent.

Mercury conjuncts Uranus exact on March 5, at 3 degrees of Aries and it will conjunct it again at 4 degrees on March 18.  The period in between is marked, and will result in nervousness, sudden changes of mind and actions, and sudden unexpected news and events in your personal life and in the world. Chaotic weather conditions could well occur with this transit, and some areas are at risk of tornadoes and other weather related circumstances that could cause damage and accidents. We may see problems with electronics or the internet at this time.  It is a period when caution should be exercised in every manner, travel should be curtailed unless necessary and forethought and consideration given to day to day activities to avoid carelessness.  This transit is indicative of genius and creativity at the highest levels and madness and chaos at the lowest. Mercury conjuncts Uranus again at 4 degrees March 18, and again April 23, at 6 degrees.  Look for this transit to be important if it is aspecting planets in your personal chart. During the period between March 6 and 19, Mercury is never more than 3 degrees away from Uranus.  Look for unexpected news and communication, be careful driving and slow your mind down to avoid rash or impulsive decision making you could later regret.

What to Avoid During Retrograde Mercury

Retrograde Mercury is the wrong time to start new projects, get married, or buy high ticket items as in the end, you may not be happy with your decision. I have tested this theory many times over, and if you start any of the above you do so at your own peril. The exception seems to be those who were born with retrograde Mercury, but many of the people you will deal with were not born with Mercury retrograde in their natal chart. This is part of the natural cycle of life and my advice is not to sweat the small stuff!

Best Use of Retrograde Mercury Energy

Retrograde Mercury is, in fact a time for re-doing, re-thinking and re-working projects and issues. In a perfect world we would rest, rethink, and re-evaluate. Of course, the world is not perfect and we generally have to keep moving, but if you can view this as a period of re-doing and re-evaluating your life and situations, as opposed to starting new projects you are using the energy in the best possible way. We become more reflective, thus thinking can become deeper.

Fated Events and Situations

Retrograde planets often coincide with events that seem fated: that is events or situations occur that seem to be thrust on us or out of our sphere of ability to control. Business deals and projects fall through, people break up or get back together and we have seem to have no power over what is happening. Issues that have not been previously resolved come back to haunt is. Retrograde Mercury relates to the past and sometimes we reconnect with those from our past.

Retrograde Mercury is a Cycle Not a Date

While Mercury officially goes retrograde March 12-April 3, it is actually a much longer cycle and events and energy will be altered at different levels during this cycle. The shadow period is when Mercurial energy actually starts to change and we become more retrospective. This period began March 27. The stationary retrograde period begin occurs March 12-15. Mercury retrogrades back to 23 degrees of Pisces and goes stationary direct on April 4.  The stationary direct period lasts until April 6, and the shadow period will last until April 23.

Most Important Period of Retrograde

The stationary retrograde period is usually when events and situations occur, letting us know the ‘communicator, and the trickster,’ is preparing to weave its magic and we are going into a period of altered mercurial energy that will play out for the next number of weeks. It is a period of correcting situations. The stationary retrograde period will be especially significant if it is transiting a personal planet in your chart. The second most important period is the stationary direct period occurring April 3-6, at 23 degrees of Pisces.  At this time Mercury begins its turnaround and we may experience confusion, delays, miscommunication, breakdowns of all types and glitches.

Mercury Retrogrades Through Two Signs

Mercury begins its retrograde in Aries March 12, then moves into the sign Pisces on March 24, changing the energy with which we think and communicate. Astrologer/Author Carol Rushman writes, “when Mercury stations in Aries or the First house, verbal assertion is assertive and occasionally combatant, because the mental energy is fast and aggressive in Aries. Decisions are made without due diligence and regretted at a later date. While new concepts are quickly grasped they can be easily abandoned.’ Aries is the natural ruler of the first house of self and we will be concerned with our selves and wants, needs and desires.  As Mercury retrogrades into Pisces on March 24, communication becomes softer but more likely to be confused as Pisces rules the twelfth house of the zodiac and in the sign ruled by Neptune, the planet of illusion, delusion and confusion.  We may also become more concerned with others, as Pisces relates to compassion.

On the world stage we will see many events occur between March 5-19 that will include unexpected news, debates, arguments and potential accidents.  Uranus is the planet of unexpected, explosive incidents and look for the hot spots around the globe to heat up.  We will likely hear threats of war, or there could actually be explosive situations and events that occur. The Natal chart of Iran shows the population will be stirred up during this period, and I look for it to be a volatile time. This retrograde will affect the US chart as well, squaring Venus-Jupiter, the financial planets.  Look for unexpected news, weather, and expenses/losses in financial markets, increases in the price of gas and food, and a continuation of the far right wing war on women and children in America. March 5-6 will be significant days in terms of the above mentioned situations.

A War on American Women

Uranus is currently squaring the Venus in America’s chart which signifies the war that is occurring on women/children, values, abortion, sexuality and birth control, as well as the actual concept of women controlling their own bodies and lives. Far right wing candidates have taken anti birth control positions, anti education positions, and Congressional committees have refused to allow women to speak at hearings on contraception and attempted to deny-revoke President Obama’s recently passed policy requiring insurance companies to pay for birth control. Talk show host and hate promoter Rush Limbaugh called the woman who was denied the right to speak at a contraception hearing a ‘slut,’ and a ‘prostitute,’ and claimed she ‘wants to be paid for sex,’ as a result of supporting the position of the White House and the law that employer driven insurance policies pay for contraception coverage. I look for these events to cause further rifts and splits in the Republican Party, especially as Uranus squares America’s Jupiter in coming months. An eventual showdown on these and other issues will occur as the Uranus-Pluto square becomes exact between now and May-June.  Grand standing by political candidates such as this will not be resolve problems, but in fact cause further dissention, dislike, and distrust among the very polarized American population.

The Economy

As Uranus continues to square Venus, then Jupiter in the US Natal chart the US will be pulled into situations that occur abroad that could affect the economy at home. While the US chart shows financial improvement at this time due to Jupiter in Taurus, unexpected incidents and with gas prices (or other situations), could derail it.  Jupiter is currently sextiling America’s Jupiter-a positive economic sign and will sextile America’s Sun the last part of March-another positive economic sign. How well the economy actually does is dependent upon the unexpected issues Uranus squaring Venus and Jupiter bring. Uranus is the planet of sudden, unexpected, disruptive and often shocking incidents.

Following are some of the more prominent aspects occurring in March:

Mercury enters Aries March 2, changing Mercurial energy making communication more prominent, assertive and aggressive. March 3, the Sun opposes Mars, bring aggressive energy that may be looking for a fight. This can be about the ego, and I always tell clients, ‘you can control yourself, but not other people.’ Look to hear news involving fights and the military. March 4, Venus opposes Saturn, a wet blanket aspect concerning love and money.  Some relationships could end, and not a good day for social activities. March 5, Venus enters Taurus, one of its ruling signs.  Great for Earth signs and Taurus is about love, possessions and luxury. March 5, Mercury conjuncts Uranus, bringing unexpected news, nervousness and rash thinking if you are not careful.  See above.

March’s Full Moon occurs March 8, at 4:39 AM, EST at 18 degrees of Virgo.  Virgo is critical and detail oriented.  It is the natural ruler of the sixth house of work and health, and to some extent we will all be concerned with these areas of life.

Mercury retrogrades March 12, at 3:49 AM, EST. March 14, Venus conjuncts Jupiter.  This is very positive for money matters, social events, love and acquiring luxury items.  Watch over indulgence of all types or you may have to pay the piper! March 18, Mercury conjuncts Uranus for the second time. The Sun enters Aries, March 20 at 1;15 AM EST.  Happy astrological new year! We can now begin the cycle anew. March 21, the Sun conjuncts Mercury, making people in general more willful. You can only control yourself. March 24, the Sun conjuncts Uranus, which is all about freedom at any cost.  Look for sudden, unexpected events in your personal life and on the world stage.  Separations and arguments can occur, and events concerning Uranus are often shocking. March 29, Mercury squares Pluto, and this is obsessive energy.  This is a transit of finding things out and information revealed.  It is compulsive and often negative. Mercury-Pluto transits generally involve situations related to the media in the world.

March’s New moon falls on 3-22 at 2 degrees of Aries.Aries is no wallflower and this new moon will pack a punch, and deserves respect!  It conjuncts Mercury at 0 degrees retrograde, and Uranus at 4 degrees.  The Sun, Moon, Mercury and Uranus are all in a stellium squaring Pluto at 9 degrees of Capricorn.

This is high, explosive energy that will bring about sudden and unexpected events, depending upon what it is aspecting in your personal natal chart. Events and situations can turn on a dime and expect a busy day and action.

In the world look for sudden and unexpected events that can turn explosive, unexpected weather conditions, accidents, potential earth changes over the next few days and the heat to be turned up in the hot spots around the globe.  Friday, the Sun conjuncts Uranus, a transit indicative of unexpected events that could involve the military, rebellions, and events related to the earth. We could also see events connected to the internet and communications media.

Venus conjuncts Jupiter March 14, and for the next few days this is part of a grand trine.  This planetary configuration involves three planets that form a 120 degree angle considered very favorable. The planets involved in this configuration are Venus-Jupiter-Mars and Pluto, and they are all in the Earth element.

This transit is favorable for social events, your love life, money and connecting with others.  It will work best for the Earth signs, but others may feel an influence as well.  So, now is the time to make plans to go out, socialize or connect with someone special.

This configuration works best if it is hitting a personal planet in your chart that is aspected at 6-10 degrees of an earth sign-Capricorn, Virgo, or Taurus. It will also have a favorable influence for those born April 26-30, August 29-September 3, or December 28-January 1.

This transit is about pleasure more so than work, and that is the downside.  It is also prone to over indulgence and over-spending.

March’s full moon occurs March 8, at 4:39AM, EST at 18 degrees of Virgo.  Virgo is the natural ruler of the sixth house of health and work, and it is here many of us will be focused.  Virgo is the most critical of signs and it opposes the Sun, generally considered somewhat disruptive.  It falls within 7 degrees of Mars, which is retrograde in Virgo. As the moon moves about a half a degree per hour it will conjunct Mars about 14 hours earlier. For many, this will seem to be the most intense energy of the full moon.  Mars-Moon energy is aggravating, angry, tired, frustrating energy and it is best to take a deep breath and let this pass. Virgo is the most critical of signs and this is a period to watch the way you project yourself.  Full moon energy lasts for about two weeks, but whatever events the moon will bring usually have occurred within 3-5 days or earlier.

In the US chart the full moon falls within 4 degrees of Neptune in the 9th house.  Neptune is the planet of illusion, confusion and delusion, so believe half of what you hear (especially in the news) and this is tiring, negative, depressive energy.  Sometimes it can represent spirituality or generosity to others, but for the most past Neptune is about lies and delusions.  The ninth house represents the house of Dr.’s, law and events that occur abroad. Neptune also rules water, chemicals and gasses.

Good luck!

LIBRA If you are a Libra born September 24-October 16, you probably feel you have been battered by the planets. Libra is being squared by Pluto, opposed by Uranus and conjuncted by Saturn. All of this makes for situations involving major life changes, some of them not easy. If you were born October 1-4, Pluto is squaring your Sun. Pluto transits bring change beyond your control and often trying circumstances, but your ambition will be at its highest. If you were born September 25-28 Uranus is opposing your Sun at this time, creating many changes, especially in the area of relationships and partnerships. Look for unexpected twists and turns to occur during this period. Uranus is all about freedom, and is in fact called the planet of 'freedom at any cost.' Now is the time to free yourself from situations or people that are repressive to you. Just don't throw out the baby with the bath water. If you were born October 19-23 Saturn is conjuncting you’re Sun during March. Saturn causes delays, restrictions and limitations. Saturn-Sun is often a major lifetime turning point, and it is time to recreate yourself. Sometimes people, situations and things are removed from our life at this time. Focus on renewing yourself and this too shall pass. Saturn conjuncts your Sun every 29.5 years.

November 12, 2011 Mars enters Virgo, your twelfth house, and here it will remain for a very long time. The twelfth house rules things that are hidden, Dr.'s, hospitals, and your own subconscious mind. Sometimes action is carried out to avoid opposition, and sometimes there are secret intrigues. The twelfth house rules seclusion and you may want to spend time alone during this period. Depending upon your basic nature, the twelfth house is sometimes called, 'the house of self-undoing.' Pay attention to your own subconscious motivations. You can also reach psychological breakthroughs and have some ah-ha moments. If you ever desired to seek counseling, now would be the time. This is the start of a new two year Mars cycle, and retrograde energy becomes more subtle and sometimes projects slow down. Mars retrogrades about every two years. The last time the planet of action retrograded it was in Leo, December of 2009. Mars will finally leave Virgo July of 2012.

Venus is in Taurus, transiting is transiting your eighth house of other people’s money and sex, giving you a boost in these areas.

March 8, the full moon falls at 18 degrees of Virgo in your 12th house. You could visit a place of seclusion or spend time alone.  Sometimes things are revealed to you at this time. Otherwise you will be dealing with work issues.

March 12, Mercury retrogrades in your 7th house of partners and partnerships and it is time to evaluate these situations. March 24, it retrogrades into your sixth house of work.

Jupiter and Venus join together at 9 degrees of Taurus on the 14th, and if this is aspecting a personal planet in your chart, should be indicative of a positive time in your social life. A grand trine will occur March 13 in Earth Signs, and this should give you a big boost in home matters and money.  The planets affected are Mars at 9 degrees of Virgo, Jupiter at 9 degrees of Taurus and Pluto at 9 degrees of Capricorn. A grand trine is a configuration that involves two planets creating a 120 degree angle to a third, and it is great energy that will have a positive impetus in the areas it is affecting.

Other dates to consider are March 18, when Mercury conjuncts Uranus creating the potential for accidents, arguments and unexpected news.  This can offer flashes of brilliance or insanity, depending on how the energy is directed. March 22, A New Moon falls in your 7th house placing a focus on partners and partnerships. March 24, the Sun conjuncts Mercury at 4 degrees creating unexpected situations, and changes of plans.  Sometimes this transit can mean separations. March 29, the Sun squares Pluto and the theme is getting to the bottom of the matter, and Pluto transits tend to deal with obsessive thought.

SCORPIO

If you were born November 20-22, Neptune has squared your Sun. Neptune is the planet of illusion, delusion, confusion and lack of clarity. Have gone through a period where your home life, or your basic foundation and everything in it lacked focus. This period actually started several years ago, and it has been a long road. Certain things, situations and people may have just dissolved out of your life. You are regaining your clarity, and you situation is becoming clear now.

Jupiter is currently in your seventh house of partners and will remain here until mid-June of 2012. Whatever Jupiter touches, it expands and your seventh house rules partners, partnerships, and marriage. If you are in a relationship it could go to a new level, and sometimes we meet significant others with this transit. It is also excellent for business partnerships.

Mars, the action planet is transiting your eleventh house of friends, hopes and wishes as well as corporations since November 11, 2011. You will focus on group matters and can make headway. Wherever Mars travels, we are generally focused and driven. The eleventh house rules corporations and groups, friends, hopes and wishes. Mars in the eleventh means energetic actions with friends and groups, a desire for leadership and at the same time there can be conflicts with the same. The energy will increase next month when Mars goes direct.

Venus is transiting your seventh house of partners along with Jupiter increasing your chances socially and romantically this month. The 13-14th could be significant.

The March 8, full moon falls in your eleventh house of friends, hopes and wishes, and groups. Your focus will be here, or work/health and fitness matters.

Mercury retrogrades in your sixth house of work on March 12, and moves into your fifth house of love affairs on March 24. These three weeks will be a period of reassessing.

Jupiter and Venus join together at 9 degrees of Taurus on the 14th, and if this is aspecting a personal planet in your chart, should be indicative of a positive time in your social life. A grand trine will occur March 13 in Earth Signs, and this should give you a big boost thinking and communicating, partnerships, groups and friends.

March 22, A New Moon falls in your sixth house of work-health and fitness. March 29, the Sun squares Pluto creating the potential for power struggles, and obsessive energy.

SAGITTARIUS

If you were born November 24-27 Uranus is trining you’re Sun. This is an excellent transit and can bring people, ideas and opportunities into your life with unexpected ease. Uranus trining your Sun is a great time to expand your life, and opportunities will come to you that you do not expect. Uranus is in your fifth house of love affairs/social activities and friends. Now is the time to broaden your social acquaintances and you may meet someone new if you are looking. You will be drawn to new and unusual situations and types of people that are different from whatever your norm is. This is a very fortunate period that brings many opportunities. If you were born after November 27, Uranus will trine your Sun at some point during its seven year cycle. Uranus will be in Aries through 2018, and the later you were born under your sign, the further out this transit is.

Mars, the action planet is transiting your tenth house of work and career until July. During this time you will focus on career matters and can make headway. Wherever Mars travels, we are generally focused and driven. The tenth house places a focus on career matters and priorities. Mars retrograde can slow projects/situations down at this time. It will go direct in April.

Venus is transiting your sixth house of work, health and fitness, giving you a boost in these areas.

The March 8, full moon falls in your tenth house of career and priorities. You will be focused here and with work.

March 12, Mercury, the planet of communication retrogrades in your fifth house of love affairs and friends (also children).  March 24 it retrogrades into your 4th house that rules the home and foundation.  Time to re-assess.

The planets affected are Mars at 9 degrees of Virgo, Jupiter at 9 degrees of Taurus and Pluto at 9 degrees of Capricorn. A grand trine is a configuration that involves two planets creating a 120 degree angle to a third, and it is great energy that will have a positive impetus in the areas of your chart it is affecting.

Other dates to consider are March 18, when Mercury conjuncts Uranus creating the potential for accidents, arguments and unexpected news.  This can offer flashes of brilliance or insanity, depending on how the energy is directed. March 22, A New Moon falls in your fifth house of love affairs and friends (also children), and a good time to go out. March 29, the Sun squares Pluto creating the potential for power struggles, and obsessive energy.

CAPRICORN

If you are a 0-6 degree Capricorn, born December 23-30, you have been pummeled by Pluto, Saturn and Uranus. Yours is a Cardinal sign and all Cardinal signs, Cancer, Aries, Libra and Capricorn are now enmeshed in a complex pattern with Saturn, Uranus and Pluto.

Pluto is conjuncting you’re Sun, near exact, if you were born December 28-31.  Pluto-Sun transits have a way of transforming an individual’s life often through adversity and change. As this transit moves on you will find that while sometimes painful you have made many changes that will be to your benefit, including, in a woman’s chart, a change of partner.

If you were born December 24-26, Uranus is squaring your Sun. You could experience job change, relationship shakeups, and many other events, sometimes involving men, or the male side of the family that come as surprises. Uranus can be a selfish planet and many times people make breaks from things and situations they consider oppressive. Or other people can break away from you during this time. Uranus seeks to free us from situations that have become stale and non-productive. Often this is experienced as a time with no real stability. Stability is still there but you must be willing to go with the flow during this period.

If you were born January 16-19, Saturn is squaring your Sun. Saturn square Sun may involve situations that call for change in work, and sometimes personal lives. Situations you are involved in may be delayed, causing frustration. Your situation will be tested at this time, which sometimes goes back to events that began seven years ago. Health issues can occur, but only if your personal chart points to it. If you feel tired and drained, your energy will start to return as this transit passes.

If you were born December 28-January 6, Jupiter is trining you’re Sun from your house of love affairs/social activities. You could be involved with children at this time or be planning children. You could also extend your social life and meet someone special.

Mars entered Virgo on November 11, 2011, a sign that is favorable to you. It is retrograding your ninth house which rules education, legal and medical situations and facilities, travel, publishing, and is generally representative of your outlook on the world. Wherever Mars travels, we are generally focused and driven. Mars retrogrades  tends to slow projects down at this time. It will go direct in April.

The March 8, full moon falls in your ninth house as does Mars, and you may be focused on situations with work.

Venus is transiting your fifth house of love affairs creating opportunities to increase your social life or meet someone new.

March 22, A New Moon falls in your fourth house, ruling the home and basic foundation. March 29, the Sun squares Pluto creating the potential for power struggles, and obsessive energy.

AQUARIUS

If you are a late degree Aquarius born February 16-18, Neptune has made its last and final pass across your Sun. Neptune has a dissolving effect, and you may feel that certain situations have dissolved away over the past few years. Neptune is the planet of illusion, delusion and confusion, and you may have been involved in relationships or circumstances that have seemed unclear. Neptune has moved moves into Pisces you will are regaining your clarity in many matters.

If you were born in during the early degrees of Aquarius, January 23-25, Uranus is sextiling your Sun and you may start to feel new mental inspiration during this time, as this is the realm of ideas, and day to day communication may take on new meaning. Everything begins with an idea and now is the time to pay attention to your thoughts. Brilliance may come in flashes that could soon be forgotten if you don't record it. If you were born after this time Uranus will sextile your Sun at some point during the next six years.

If you were born February 15-18 Saturn is trining your Sun. Saturn-Sun transits are indicative of personal stability and you may make progress in all matters at this time. Travel, especially to old places is favored, as is education. You may reconnect with those from the past, occasionally an old love

Mars, the action planet is transiting your eighth house of money, corporate money, other people's money and sex where it will remain through July. As it is retrograding you may be re-considering. The eighth house also rules personal transformation, as well as sex.

Venus is in Taurus transiting your fourth house of home.  You may spend more time here or entertain.

The March 8, full moon also falls in your eighth house and this will deal with matters that concern sex, occasionally death, taxes and corporate money.

Jupiter and Venus join together at 9 degrees of Taurus on the 14th, and if this is aspecting a personal planet in your chart, should be indicative of a positive time in your social life. A grand trine will occur March 13 in Earth Signs, and this should give you a big boost in money and home matters, corporate money, and communicating..

March 22, A New Moon falls in third house of communication, short trips and immediate family members. March 29, the Sun squares Pluto creating the potential for power struggles, and obsessive energy.

PISCES

If you are a Pisces born February 26-March 6, Jupiter the planet of expansion and gain is sextiling you’re Sun during October-November. This is a blessed event astrologically, as Jupiter-Sun periods often concede with our most favorable times. It is currently placed in the third house which rules the mind, ideas, travel and immediate family members. If you are experiencing some difficulty in your life at this time, Jupiter will serve as personal protection, helping you come up with solutions and answers. The only downfall to Jupiter is that it expands whatever it touches and that can include your waistline! All Pisces will have Jupiter sextiling their Sun at some point between now and June.

If you were born February 19-23 Neptune is conjunct your Sun. If the 19th and 20th it is exact.  Neptune is the planet of illusion, delusion and confusion and you may take up unusual ideas, meet unusual people or become enchanted with a new way of life.  When Neptune crosses your Sun these situations may pass, and what was once attractive may no longer be.  Neptune rules creativity and spirituality and you may have events that could change your life at this time. The highest use of Neptunian energy is a self-less one. Sometimes this coincides with fatigue or an illness, but other indications would have to point to that.  It can be a creative and fun time, as long as you don’t take new ideas or new people that seem too good to be true too seriously.

Mars is transiting Virgo your seventh house of partners and partnerships. It will remain here until July, and your attention will be on seventh house matters, which also include courts (if something else in your chart points to it) and it is considered the house of 'open enemies.' During this time you will focus on your partner, or professional association. Wherever Mars travels, we are generally focused and driven, but Mars is retrograde and sometimes projects and situations slow down at this time. It will go direct in April.

The March 8, full moon at 18 degrees of Virgo falls in your seventh house of partners, and you will be concerned with others close to you as well as work.

Mercury retrogrades March 12, in your second house of money, and it is time to reassess your money, finances and bank account.  March 24, it retrogrades into Pisces creating glitches and delays, but giving you opportunities to re-do and re-design your life.

Jupiter and Venus join together at 9 degrees of Taurus on the 14th, and if this is aspecting a personal planet in your chart, should be indicative of a positive time in your social life. A grand trine will occur March 13, in Earth Signs, and this should give you a big boost in self image, communication, love affairs, social life and travel, work and outlook.

March 22, A New Moon falls in your 2ond house of money, generating opportunities here. March 29, the Sun squares Pluto creating the potential for power struggles, and obsessive energy.

Aries will continue to experience many life changes this year. If you were born March 23-26 you have been pummeled over the past several years by Pluto, Saturn and now Uranus. If you were born on the above dates, Uranus will conjunct your Sun during March, bringing unexpected events to your life, changes and a strong desire for personal freedom to express yourself in ways that are unique to you as an individual. Uranus-Sun transits bring change and opportunity to go in new directions. Not all of the change is expected, but Uranus has a way of shaking things up to keep life from getting stale.

If you were born March 27-31, Pluto will square your Sun this month. Pluto square Sun stimulates ambition and can bring many major life changes.  In a woman’s chart this transit generally brings some change with the man in her life, one way or another.  This transit will occur three times between now and June of 2015. Pluto-Sun transits often change or transform situations, or the partners in your life. Pluto-Sun transits often seem to bring a crisis, either in your personal life or business, but your ambition will be high. Pluto is the ultimate planet of change and transformation, and after Pluto crosses your Sun, individuals often feel they have gone through a period of major change in their life. Most of them report a change for the better in the end.

If you were born before these dates, Pluto has already crossed your Sun, and changes have already occurred, and after the above dates, Pluto will eventually create a square to your Sun in the future. The further out you were born, the further away this transit is. Pluto will be in Capricorn through 2024.

Jupiter, the planet of money and gain is in your second house of money and earned income until June, bringing opportunities for a promotion or to make more money.

Saturn will retrograde from 29-27 degrees between during March 2012. You will be affected if you were born April 15-19. Saturn opposing Sun transits often weed out relationships/situations that no longer serve a purpose. Otherwise, Sun-Saturn oppositions create delay, frustrations and obstacles. Occasionally, this signifies a health problem, and is often connected with stress, tiredness and a feeling of being world weary.

During March Venus, the planet of love and money will transit your second house of money and earned income. It will give you a slight lift in these areas and help with creative ways to make money. Mars, the other planet connected to your love life will be in your sixth house of work and health until July. The first half of the year will be spent working hard to achieve success.

A grand trine will occur March 13 in Earth Signs.  The planets affected are Mars at 9 degrees of Virgo, Jupiter at 9 degrees of Taurus and Pluto at 9 degrees of Capricorn. A grand trine is a configuration that involves two planets creating a 120 degree angle to a third, and it is a positive energy that will create positive impetus in the areas of money, work and career. March 14, Venus and Jupiter form a conjunction creating great energy for your social life and giving you a boost with money if it is aspecting personal planets in your chart.

The full moon in March falls at 18 degrees of Virgo on March 8.  Virgo is the natural ruler of the sixth house of work and health and falls in your sixth house.  At this time you will be occupied with matters of this nature, and it would be easy to become overly critical or be subjected to attitudes of this type.

March 3-4 may not be the best time to plan social activities and relationships may suffer this weekend.  Venus-Saturn will be a wet blanket effect and troubled relationships could end at this time. March 5, Mercury-Uranus may bring unexpected news and it will be a significant day for communication if you were born March 23, or within a few days of this date, have personal planets at three degrees of Aries, Libra, Capricorn or Cancer.

Mercury retrogrades March 12, in your sign, and this retrograde cycle may affect your more so than other signs.  Look for changeability on the fifth, and 18 of the month.  March 28-29 could bring obsessive thinking, and trying to get to the bottom of a matter.

The New moon occurs March 22, in your sign.  This is a time of personal new beginnings, and planning for the immediate future.

Other dates to consider are March 18, when Mercury conjuncts Uranus creating the potential for accidents, arguments and unexpected news.  This can offer flashes of brilliance or insanity, depending on how the energy is directed.

TAURUS

Jupiter, the planet of gain and expansion entered your first house in June 2011. If you were born between April 27-May 3, Jupiter will conjunct your Sun this month.  If you were born after May 3, Jupiter will conjunct your Sun before June.

Jupiter-Sun transits only occur every 12 years, so be prepared to take advantage of this lucky transit. Jupiter-Sun represents a time when life can become easier, and you may feel a certain amount of luck at hand. Opportunities come your way during this time. At the very least, it is a form of personal protection if you are experiencing otherwise harder and more difficult transits. Sometimes in a woman’s chart, it brings new relationships.

Venus enters your sign March 5, and this is the month you should look and feel your best, as well as project a positive attitude.  You have the energy to attract the opposite sex, and luck is on your side.  Mars, the sign ruling action, men and sex (also children), in your fifth house of love affairs (through July) March may prove to be the best month for your social life or to meet new people.

Mercury retrogrades on March 12, and it is an especially good month for reconnecting with those you have known before and it is the only fly in the ointment in terms of meeting new people. If you meet someone new under a retrograde Mercury time will tell whether or not the relationship will be permanent. Sometimes the relationship falls away when Mercury goes direct, or changes occur at that time.

Mars is retrograding through your fifth house of friends, love affairs (and children) until mid-April and now is the time to reassess where you are going with regard to these matters.  Sometimes you may wish to back up, slow down and take stock of an existing relationship.  New relationships begun under a retrograde Mars may change direction when Mars goes direct mid-April.

The full moon in Virgo on March 8 falls in your fifth house of children, friends, and love affairs, and it is here your attention will lie at this time. This is a good night to go to a restaurant, attend a social event, or be connected with children.

On March 12, Mercury retrogrades in your twelfth house.  Situations will be revealed to you over the next few weeks, even if these situations are buried in your subconscious mind. March 24, it retrogrades into your house of friends, and it is time to reconnect and reassess. Your wishes could change at this time.

A grand trine will occur March 13 in Earth Signs.  The planets affected are Mars at 9 degrees of Virgo, Jupiter at 9 degrees of Taurus and Pluto at 9 degrees of Capricorn. A grand trine is a configuration that involves two planets creating a 120 degree angle to a third, and it is an uplifting energy that will have a positive impetus in the areas of self, love/social life and travel or education.

The new moon on March 22 falls in your 12th house of seclusion and the subconscious mind.  You will be occupied with hidden matters and could have an ahh ha moment.

Other dates to consider are March 18, when Mercury conjuncts Uranus creating the potential for accidents, arguments and unexpected news.  This can offer flashes of brilliance or insanity, depending on how the energy is directed.

GEMINI

If you were born under the sign of the twins, you may have connected with a former love interest, or you may in the future depending upon when you were born. Saturn, which rules the past, will be transiting your fifth house of love affairs until fall of 2012. If you were born June 17-20 you have an opportunity to connect with those from your past this month, and otherwise have a more stable situation in your love and social life, as Saturn trines your Sun.  Of course, Saturn is retrograde, giving you an opportunity to resolve differences and difficulties at this time.  Saturn will trine your Sun again, when it is direct in September. Saturn-Sun is not limited to old lovers, but rather all types of people who may have once been in your life.

Jupiter is in Taurus, your twelfth house through June providing spiritual and mental healing through June, at which time it will move in your sign-a once every twelve year occurrence and opportunity for new beginnings.

On March 6, Venus enters Taurus, your twelfth house along with Jupiter.  The twelfth house is generally not indicative love affairs, but does relate to secrets, and perhaps a secret crush or love affair.

Jupiter and Venus join together at 9 degrees on the 14th, and if this is aspecting a personal planet in your chart, should be indicative of a positive time in your social life. A grand trine will occur March 13 in Earth Signs.  The planets affected are Mars at 9 degrees of Virgo, Jupiter at 9 degrees of Taurus and Pluto at 9 degrees of Capricorn. A grand trine is a configuration that involves two planets creating a 120 degree angle to a third, and it is great energy that will have a positive impetus in the areas of the home, other people’s money or sex, and your own subconscious mind.

Mars, the planet of action is currently retrograding through your fourth house.  The fourth house rules your own personal foundation and home and you may be dealing with issues in these areas.  Virgo also rules work and health and makes all of us more critical of ourselves and others at this time, especially in these areas.

The full moon falls on March 8, in your fourth house of home, and you could be dealing with family members at this time, or you may be absorbed in issues connected to work.  Your health could also be undergoing some type of change (not to worry—big health problems require more than a full moon)

March 5, look for unexpected news from friends or an organization, or you could feel especially enlightened as Mercury conjuncts Uranus. This will occur again on the 18.

Mercury retrogrades at 6 degrees of Aries, falling in your 11th house of friends, hopes and wishes, as well as organizations on March 12.  Look for any issues that have been left undone to surface over the next three weeks and this increases your chance of hearing for those from your past.  Otherwise, expect the usual delays retrograde Mercury is generally associated with.

Other dates to consider are March 18, when Mercury conjuncts Uranus creating the potential for accidents, arguments and unexpected news.  This can offer flashes of brilliance or insanity, depending on how the energy is directed.

The March New moon on March 22 falls in your 11th house which rules organizations, as well as your friends, hopes, and wishes. If you were born June 11-15, this new moon sextiles your sun, making it favorable, unless something else is interfering.

CANCER

If you were born June 21-July 1 you have been pummeled by Saturn, Pluto and Uranus - the big three. It is likely you have gone through many trials and setbacks in the past year. A time of greater stability is close, as well as a time you can relax without so many unexpected things happening? If you were born July 20-22, Saturn will square your Sun in March. Bad relationships may end during this time, and many changes can occur in your home and personal foundation. Your vitality may be low and you could experience a breakdown in your health if other things point in that direction. (This does not mean everyone will have bad heath!) If your health is good you may feel more tired than you have in years. After March your vitality will pick up and you should have reached decisions in several areas of your life by now.

If you were born June 24-27 Uranus squares your Sun this month. Uranus-Sun transits have a way of bringing unexpected, sometimes shocking changes.  This can occur with the men in your life, career area, or in other areas of your life, depending upon what Uranus is aspecting.  Uranus is the planet of freedom at any cost and its transit will shake up areas that lack stability. Sometimes Uranus-Sun transits indicate a change of job or career path.

Mars continues its transit through your third house of communication, and immediate family members.  Retrograde mars energy can mean a lack of physical energy and it may create a focus on communication for many months to come.  Venus entered your 11th house of friends, hopes and wishes on March 5, and you may spend more time with friends.

The full moon on March 8 falls in your third house, again creating a focus on communication, immediate family members and you may be concerned with work/health issues. Virgo full moons can seem critical, or you may be overly critical.

March 12, Mercury retrogrades through your 10th house of career, so look for obstacles, slowdowns and a period of re-accessing what you have been doing in your job situation. Retrograde Mercury tends to bring up loose ends that need to be completed.  On March 24, Mercury retrogrades into your 9th house that rules travel, education, legal and medical matters.

A grand trine is a configuration that involves two planets creating a 120 degree angle to a third, and it is great energy that will have a positive impetus in the areas of communication, work, and partners.

Other dates to consider are March 18, when Mercury conjuncts Uranus creating the potential for accidents, arguments and unexpected news.  This can offer flashes of brilliance or insanity, depending on how the energy is directed. March 22, a New Moon falls in your house of career.

                                                                              LEO

If you were born during the final degrees of Leo, August 20-23, you have been experiencing the transit of Neptune opposing your Sun for the past several years. Relationships, partnerships and other situations may have become murky and disoriented during this time and some of them may have faded out. Neptune has a dissolving effect, and this transit represents major lifetime change. Neptune left Aquarius in February and you should have completed this period and be moving on with your life with new clarity now.

If you were born July 26-29 Uranus is trining your Sun this month bringing positive new experiences and opportunities. If born August 19-22 Saturn is sextiling your Sun, creating personal stability and connecting you with situations from your past.

Mars, the planet of action is retrograde all month through your second house of money.  You may be spending money and now is the time to take a solid look at your financial situation.  Venus is transiting your career house giving you a slight edge in that area.

The full moon on March 8 falls in your second house of money and you may be dealing with situations that involve money or work.  Take care not to be overly critical.

Mercury retrogrades on March 12, in your 9th house which rules education, legal and medical matters and your general outlook toward the world. Look for delays and obstacles to occur and this is a time of re-doing, not starting new things. On March 24, it retrogrades into your eighth house of money and corporate money, as well as taxes, debt and in rare cases you can hear of a death.

A grand trine is a configuration that involves two planets creating a 120 degree angle to a third, and it is great energy that will have a positive impetus in the areas of money, work, and even sex!

Other dates to consider are March 18, when Mercury conjuncts Uranus creating the potential for accidents, arguments and unexpected news.  This can offer flashes of brilliance or insanity, depending on how the energy is directed. March 22, a New Moon falls in your house of career.

VIRGO

If you were born October 23-27 Neptune is opposing your Sun.  If you were born within a few days after this Neptune is starting its opposition to your Sun that will increase in strength as time goes on.  Neptune transits have an orb of about 8 degrees.  If you were born October 24-26 Neptune is opposing your Sun, exact.  The first period of this transit occurred April-July 2011, and you can go back to that time to get a gauge for future events.

Neptune/Sun transits are often associated with relationships that may be fascinating but confusing, or there may be a situation involved that is preventing the relationship from moving to a higher level, such as being involved with an individual that is married or otherwise not available. Sometimes an individual can enter the life that is an alcoholic, or has some other problem that would render them incapable of fulfilling the relationship in a normal manner. At its highest, Neptune/Sun can bring a partner into the life of the highest spiritual type, but this is rare.  The individual with this transit may believe the person who enters their life perfect, but this often changes as the transit moves on. Only time will tell the story. Neptune is the planet of illusion, delusion, confusion and lack of clarity. Otherwise, this may coincide with a period of tiredness, a desire to retire, and increased creativity and intuitive abilities. Make sure all new ventures are on the up and up, and if you feel too tired visit a Dr. On occasion, this transit can indicate health problems, or those of a partner. Mars also rules drugs/substances and over indulging, which could become a problem if prone to it.

November 12, 2011 Mars entered Virgo, your first house, and here it will remain until July. The first house rules you as an individual and things that affect you personally. This is the start of a new two year Mars cycle and Mars in your sign usually means that you are very busy, even when retrograde, but you may have a few false starts with situations or people. When Mars retrogrades energy becomes more subtle and sometimes projects slow down. Mars retrogrades about every two years. The last time the planet of action retrograded it was in Leo, December of 2009.

Venus is in Taurus, your ninth house of travel, education, legal and medical matters, and your general outlook on the world.  Venus and Mars in this combination are positive and can increase your chances of meeting someone new.

The full moon on March 8, falls at1 8 degrees of Virgo in your first house.  This full moon is about you and relationships of all types.  This full moon is for you, Virgo!

March 12, Mercury retrogrades in eighth house of sex, money, debt and taxes. On the 24th it retrogrades into your 7th house of partners and partnerships and courts.

Jupiter and Venus join together at 9 degrees of Taurus on the 14th, and if this is aspecting a personal planet in your chart, should be indicative of a positive time in your social life. A grand trine will occur March 13 in Earth Signs, and this should give you a big boost in money, your love life and your social life as well. Earth signs will benefit the most!

Other dates to consider are March 18, when Mercury conjuncts Uranus creating the potential for accidents, arguments and unexpected news.  This can offer flashes of brilliance or insanity, depending on how the energy is directed. March 22, A New Moon falls in your 8th house again, putting a focus on money!

On February 3, 2012 Neptune moves into the sign Pisces, where it will be at home for the next 14 years. Neptune takes 165 years to travel through each sign of the zodiac, and Pisces is the natural ruler of the twelfth house. Since Neptune is at home in Pisces, the energy here will be stronger than in any other sign. The sign of Pisces is two fish swimming in opposite directions, describing its dual nature.

Pisces is the natural ruler of the twelfth house-things secret and hidden, the subconscious mind of the collective.  Here things will play out secretly, and we will feel urgings deep within our individual souls and the collective soul.  The twelfth house rules mysticism, hospitals, isolation, secrets, and secret enemies which at times can even be ourselves. It is sacrifice, suffering and confinement, and will lead to new compassions.  When a planet enters the twelfth house is entering the last phase of its cycle in preparation for new beginnings.  It’s like clearing the deck for a new start.  Neptune cycles are long in duration and a new cycle will not begin until Neptune enters Aries in 2025, which will be the start of a new 165 year cycle.

When Neptune changes signs it is a major planetary shift, and a very big deal, astrologically. It will change the lives of everyone reading this, and those who are not. It signals a change in our deepest psyche and a new direction in thinking and feeling. Neptune briefly entered Pisces in 2011 April-early August.  Since 1998, Neptune in Aquarius has urged us toward personal and collective freedoms, ideas, and changes in viewpoints. Collectively, we have felt the deep seated urge to seek freedoms for ourselves, and in over the past few years we have urged freedom for others as the Middle East erupted in Arab Spring of 2011 and protestors lines the streets of Europe and the US.  Aquarius is ruled in part by Uranus and takes on the attributes of the planet: upheaval, disruptions, change and rebellions.

Pisces is another story altogether. Pisces is an egoless sign rather than one of personal gain, and the spiritual becomes the goal rather than the material. It is a mutable sign, meaning the energy is flexible and chameleon like, and adaptable to change.  It is an idealistic, sensitive sign that is self expressive, dramatic, compassionate and intuitive in nature.

As Neptune moves through Pisces we will become more aware of the need for sacrifice and forgiveness, compassion, and understanding. Neptune in Pisces inclines itself toward romantic ideas, glamour and will be a dose of compassion in a very angry world. Many will strive for a more beautiful world.  Music, movies and art will go to new levels, and we may see new art forms.  As the Uranus-Pluto square shakes the world for the next four years it will continue to bring anger, disruption, and explosive situations in our lives and around the globe, Neptune in Pisces will bring an element of compassion, forgiveness, and working toward the greater good with a non selfish approach. Of course, not everyone will automatically change personalities to personify this description, but there will be a collective element in the world that will that will bring these qualities to life.

Neptune is the most complex of planets, its energies working on a very subtle level. Neptune transits bring about a deep seated and sometimes subconscious desire to merge with something other than the self.  Whether it is a lover, marriage, family, idea, or purpose Neptune causes a yearning at a soul level to join with something bigger than the self. We will feel this longing and in ourselves and the world as a collective. One of the greatest dangers of Neptune relates to the false glamour and delusion the planet tends to generate. It may cause a person or group to follow an ideal, but the over idealization of the dream can lead to great disappointment and total lack of clarity.

Neptune in Pisces will be about art, glamour, romance, creativity, cinema, photography, spirituality and religion, mystics, psychics, dreams, compassion, illusion, religion, transcending of egos, spiritual illumination. The world however, is not a linear place, rather multi dimensional, and where Neptune is involved there is great depth and many layers of truths and illusions that stand in the way of truth. Where there is light, there is dark, and where there is darkness there is a lack of clarity.

Neptune always has a duality of nature that inclines toward illusion, delusion, confusion, lack of focus and clarity, deception, lies, and self deception. Neptune in Pisces rules drugs of all types, prescription and illegal, addictions of all types and alcohol. We will see an increase in addicted individuals, and be forced as a collective to deal with these issues. It rules chemicals, gasses, oil and salt water.

Neptune can also bring deception, strange thoughts, events and trickery. Neptune in Pisces will also be about the more sordid side of life: Prostitution and gambling, narcotics, trafficking of all types, and pornography. Neptune rules mists, fog, and the seas. Pirating will increase and we are at risk of oil and chemical spills. Water, oil, nuclear weapons, chemicals, and diseases, both air and water borne will come into focus one way or another over the next 14 years.  When Saturn squares Neptune in 2015-16 water will become an important commodity, and we may be called upon as a civilization to afford greater protection toward our most vital asset.

Neptune and Chiron- Neptune is within a few degrees of conjuncting Chiron, known as the wounded healer. Chiron has been classified as both an asteroid and a comet and its influence can intensity issues that are already challenging. The effects of Neptune can make it difficult to evaluate the challenges rationally and with clear thinking.  So, in essence the challenges may become worse before they get better or are evaluated for future growth. Spiritual growth and healing seldom occur as quickly as we would wish.

Sir Winston Churchill once said “those who fail remember the past are doomed to repeat it.” Never is this saying more applicable than when looking at astrological trends. Neptune was in Pisces the following periods: 1029-1042, 1193-1206, 1356-1370, 1520-1534, 1684-1697 and 1847-1861.

The last period saw the rise of the industrial revolution, and was the pre cursor to the civil war in the US. Labor conditions began to change and the world morphed into a different time. The Underground Railroad was shuttering slaves through a series of safe houses in the US and out of the country. The abolition of slavery occurred in the French colonies in 1848. Mysticism took hold America. Cocaine was used as a drug and freely prescribed. The Age of Enlightenment occurred in Europe during 1650-1700.

It is within these boundaries we will walk over the next 14 years of our lives as the world shifts into a new age in front of our eyes.
