Years ago people recognized the connection between mind/ body/spirit and the relationship to health.   Then medicine became aware of germs, viruses and bacteria and we slowly turned from our grandmother's chicken soup to the latest drugs that the pharmaceutical companies offered.

However, in recent years there has been a rediscovery of the holistic approach to health, with doctors telling us that laughter really is the best medicine (keeping a positive attitude), and grandma's chicken soup really does help us recover from colds.  The medical field also now recognizes the connection between stress and physical ailments....the mind tells the body how to feel!

There are some wonderful books on this subject, and among my favourites is Heal Your Body by Louise L Hay.  The various ailments are listed, as well as the mental causes and the affirmations we can use to overcome the thought.  For example, Crohn's Disease - dis-ease - is a physical manifestation of the mental thought  "I am not good enough" and the metaphysical way to overcome that would be to affirm that you are doing your best, you love yourself, you are at peace, etc.

What do you think?  Do you have any examples from your own life that you would share?  I would love to hear from you.

With love, dignity and respect,

Liz
