Our society has become so technologically advanced with voicemail, email, instant messaging and the dreaded text messaging (gulp!) that its no wonder why so many of us have miscommunications in our love relationships. Let's face it, with busy schedules its sometimes impossible to share the love we have for each other in any different manner. But with our planet moving towards a higher vibration, we need to take the time now to show our loved ones how much they mean to us without the aid of electronic devices.
Take the time each day to show the one you love how much he or she means to you the old fashioned way. Say it, show it, do it! There are so many ways to communicate love and caring in a very heartfelt and personal way. Here are some of my personal favourites.
* Massage - You don't have to be a fully licensed therapist to give your love a massage. Pick an oil or lotion with a relaxing scent such as lavender, jasmine, sandalwood, vanilla or almond and let your heart and hands guide you. Foot massages are especially appreciated.
* Flowers - Flowers are universally accepted as symbols of love. It doesn't have to be a bouquet of a dozen red roses either. Sometimes a single flower picked by your love is the most special gift in the world. Planting flower seeds in a pot is also a wonderful way to show him or her that you care. Nuturing and watching a seed grow and flower is so symbolic. Just like watching the love grow between you.
* Baths - Draw a bath with fresh rosemary, lavender and rose petals and oils and bath the one you love. Wrap fresh herbs and flowers in cheesecloth or gauze and tie it to the faucet so that the water runs through it. This will be handy in order to keep the plumber at bay. :)
* Hand written letter and poems - You don't have to be a poet or a great writer to show your sweetheart how much you care. A handwritten love letter or selected poem with a spritz of your perfume or cologne is a treasured gift. Even a little drawing of the two of you together (yes, smiley faces and stick figures are allowed!) is guaranteed to bring a smile.
* Homecooked meals - Prepared from scratch if possible. If not, any meal or snack works. Remember, the way to the heart is through the stomach ;)
There are so many different ways of showing that special someone how much you care. A secret note saying "I love you" or "I'll miss you today" or "I'm so happy I'm part of your life" tucked into a pocket, under a pillow or a briefcase is a great suprise.
If you want to use technology to your advantage, fill your iPod with meaningful songs and photos and present it with your lover. He or she can listen to it when you are apart or at work or at school and dream about you. Burn a cd with your special songs.
Most of all, take at least 15 minutes a day to spend quality face to face time with him or her (unplug the phone, don't answer the door, wait until the kids are asleep) and just let your heart guide you. It might be brushing her hair, giving him a neck massage, or just meditating or sitting quietly together. YOU decide...just take the time to show your love.
