Gallantry in Motion

The recent ceremony at the White House, in which President Barack Obama presented the Medal of Honor to Marine Corporal Dakota Meyer moved me and set me to thinking.  What makes an ordinary man do extraordinary things in the face of danger and overwhelming odds?  I was reminded of an earlier Medal of Honor winner, Audie Murphy.  Of course, as an astrologer I immediately felt that the planet Mars (the warrior) was prominent in their birth charts and most probably Uranus(the unexpected) as well.  I set about finding birth data for these two heroes and I cast charts.


 

 

I was looking for a common thread and lo and behold there it was.  Dakota Meyer’s Mars location and Audie Murphy’s Uranus location are at the same degree (out of 360 degrees).  Also their birth dates are within a week of each other.  What surprised me was that it was the gentle sign of Pisces that held these placements.  But then I remembered that Pisces is the sign of self-sacrifice.

jULY 1, 2011 SOLAR ECLIPSE

Although the eclipse will not be visible to most of the inhabited world we will all feel its influence.  Mundane astrology counts eclipses as the most significant events to influence worldly affairs.  Wars, earthquakes and the “death of princes” among other significant events are foretold by the appearance of eclipses, according to the ancients.


The eclipse takes place at 9 degrees, 12 minutes in the sign of Cancer.  Those born in the 10th degree of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn or that those signs on the angles will notice its influence in particular.  The Sabian symbol for the 10th degree of Cancer is: a large diamond not completely cut.  The great astrologer, Marc Edmund Jones suggests this keyword: LATENCY while the equally great Dane Rudhyar suggests CRAFTSMANSHIP.  I humbly suggest the keyword: POSSIBILITIES.  These keywords all suggest that skilled, hard work will lead to sparkling success!

Yes Virginia, You Are Still a Virgo Sun Sign!



Millions of people were baffled at the news last week that there was a
thirteenth Zodiac sign. Many of my clients called for an explanation.  My favorite calls were from the Aquarians--the sign that rules astrology."There is no way that I am a Capricorn !" they complained. I must say that they were seriously upset.  I tried my best to calm them down and explain that the earth has changed  since the time of the Babylonians.  I believe that the attached link does a much better job than I did.

2010 Retrograde Mercury Calendar

Of course the planet Mercury is not going backwards when it is retrograde.  It just seems that way when it slows down and other planets overtake it.  Mercury darts around the heavens to and fro and is in apparent retrograde motion about three times a year.  Those periods in 2010 are noted by the red dates on the calendar.  There is a foreshadow period which is a bit like a preview of coming attractions and an shadow period in which we assimilate the experiences of the apparent retrograde period.  Information, messages, transportation, conversation, meetings, contracts etc. tends to be disrupted during these periods.  On the positive side, these are a good times to reconcile redo, relocate, rehearse or almost anything beginning with re-.

THE PLANETS IN ORDER OF SPEED

 

PART II, Lesson 2

In order to understand the influence of the planets, it helps to be aware of the speed with which each planet moves through a sign.  The Moon, Mercury and Venus are the inner planets since they orbit between Earth and the Sun.  Along with Mars, they exert the most noticeable and changing influence.  The outer planets particularly Jupiter and Saturn exert more long-lasting influence.  Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are called generational planets due to their very long-lasting influence.
