There have been times in my life when it has felt like we've faced one obstacle after another. It came to the point of wondering if I can face one more challenge. However, I do believe our attitude and determination makes all the difference. Each day we can choose if we will be determined to smile and perservere or focus on all the things going wrong.
During the greatest challenges in my life I have thought of the passage from the bible which states, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Boy have there been some challenging times where I have had to let go and let God. There have been days when I have sat back thinking I need to allow God to carry me today through this crisis. To me, that is okay. It's okay to say we've reached our limit. It's okay to tell a friend you can't help her or him today because you need to help yourself. How many of us go about our daily life always putting others first while neglecting ourselves? Sometimes you do have to admit that you'd be more of a service to others if you took care of yourself. So to those of you feeling this way today, you know who you are, be kind to yourself and acknowledge when you'd be more helpful to others by simply taking a break for you. I have found I am more helpful to those around me when I just stop everything and take a walk when I get all stressed out. Many people don't give themselves permission to just take a break.
My mom was in ICU last week. She is out of ICU, but still in the hospital at this time. I've also been facing some challenges with my marriage. To complicate matters, I'm dealing with pain in my knee and feeling limited. The pain seems to come when I'm driving, climbing stairs, kneeling, and last night it came when I was trying to sleep. So if I am not available to you, it is because I am taking care of myself. I always want to give you my very best because you are important to me.

I always have felt it's good to focus on the blessings especially during our trials. My little guy with Down syndrome is doing great. He is my shining light and I am always reminded to focus on the gift of today. I find that it's in counting the blessings that we can smile even when chaos is around us. Look for good in your situation. Count the blessings and see if that makes a difference when you are struggling. Whatever you do, don't give up on your dreams and hopes for the future!

Life certainly can bring many challenges to us, but I have felt it's in the valleys where we grow the most. We find out what we are made of during our trials. As I create this blog, my mom is in the hospital due to an issue with walking. She is a diabetic, and had no pulse in her foot. So she is facing some very tough decisions today. She had undergone surgery this past year, and I know she is growing weary. My mom also has COPD which means she has breathing difficulties on top of all of this so surgery can be very risky for her. Every year around this time she seems to end up on the hospital, but usually it's due to her breathing issues.
For those of you facing difficulties today, I would tell you to just keep the faith and focus on the love not the fears. Each day is such a precious gift even when it's one of those days challenging our minds and spirit. Stay positive and believe in your ability to surpass whatever you are facing.
