Summer Solstice
The Summer Solstice marks the longest day of summer, the point at which the life-giving Sun is at its strongest over the the powers of darkness.
Summer Solstice or Midsummer's Day falls when the Sun is at its highest point in the sky, resulting in the longest day and the shortest night. Celebrations are held on June 21, but the solstice cover about four days on either side.
Summer Solstice is a celebration of life. By the time Summer Solstice come the planting is done, it's the pause between early crops and fall crops. Festivities include lightening bonfires on hilltops and rolling burning wheels down hillside to represent the decline of the Sun. Many people gather at sacred sites where it is common to leave an offering of summer flowers, a stone or a crystal as a thank you to the Sun.
Summer Folklore
Here is some folklore that you might find helpful. According to forklore, if you pick 7 to 9 types of wildflowers in the evening, in silence, and place them under your pillow, you will dream of your future spouse. But you mustn't reveal whom you dream about to anyone.
Midsummer is the time to cut your wands from the trees, as the trees hold there greatest amount of light at this time.
