A HEART FELT STORY -- Puppy Size

My client sent this to me today (thank you Cheryl!)  I think we call all relate to a story like this...

Puppy Size  -- This is one of the neatest stories you will ever hear. You will know precisely what this little girl is talking about at the end (you'll want to share this one with your loved ones and special friends)!

'Danielle keeps repeating it over and over again. We've been back to this animal shelter at least five times. It has been weeks now since we started all of this,' the mother told the volunteer.  'What is it she keeps asking for?' the volunteer asked.  'Puppy size!' replied the mother.  'Well, we have plenty of puppies, if that's what she's looking for.'  'I know...we have seen most of them,' the mom said in frustration.

Just then Danielle came walking into the office.  'Well, did you find one?' asked her mom. 'No, not this time,' Danielle said with sadness in her voice. 'Can we come back on the weekend?'  The two women looked at each other, shook their heads and laughed. 'You never know when we will get more dogs. Unfortunately, there's always a supply,' the volunteer said.  Danielle took her mother by the hand and headed to the door. 'Don't worry, I'll find one this weekend,' she said.

Over the next few days both mom and dad had long conversations with her.  They both felt she was being too particular. 'It's this weekend or we're not looking anymore,' Dad finally said in frustration. 'We don't want to hear anything more about puppy size either,' Mom added.

Sure enough, they were the first ones in the shelter on Saturday morning. By now Danielle knew her way around, so she ran right for the section that housed the smaller dogs.  Tired of the routine, mom sat in the small waiting room at the end of the first row of cages. There was an observation window so you could see the animals during times when visitors weren't permitted.  Danielle walked slowly from cage to cage, kneeling periodically to take a closer look One by one the dogs were brought out and she held each one.  One by one she said, 'Sorry, you're not the one.'

It was the last cage on this last day in search of the perfect pup.  The volunteer opened the cage door and the child carefully picked up the dog and held it closely. This time she took a little longer.  'Mom, that's it! I found the right puppy! He's the one! I know it!' she screamed with joy. 'It's the puppy size!'

'But it's the same size as all the other puppies you held over the last few weeks,' Mom said.  'No, not size... the sighs. When I held him in my arms, he sighed,' she  said.  'Don't you remember? ? When I asked you one day what love is, you told me love depends on the sighs of your heart.  The more you love, the bigger the sigh!'

The two women looked at each other for a moment. Mom didn't know whether to laugh or cry. As she stooped down to hug the child, she did a little of both.  'Mom, every time you hold me, I sigh. When you and Daddy come home from work and hug each other, you both sigh. I knew I would find the right puppy if it sighed when I held it in my arms,' she said.  Then, holding the puppy up close to her face, she said, 'Mom, he loves me. I heard the sighs of his heart!'

Close your eyes for a moment and think about the love that makes you sigh. I not only find it in the arms of my loved ones, but in the caress of a sunset, the kiss of the moonlight and the gentle brush of cool air on a hot day.  Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

God's Thoughts on Lawns -

GOD:  Frank, you know all about gardens and nature.  What in the world is going on down there on that planet?  What happened to the dandelions, violets, thistle and stuff I started eons ago? I had a perfect no-maintenance garden plan. Those plants grow in any type of soil, withstand drought and multiply with abandon. The nectar from the long-lasting blossoms attracts butterflies, honey bees and flocks of songbirds.  I expected to see a vast garden of colors by now.  But, all I see are these green rectangles.

ST. FRANCIS:  It's the tribes that settled there, Lord. The Suburbanites.  They started calling your flowers "weeds" and went to great lengths to kill them and replace them with grass.

GOD:  Grass?  But, it's so boring.  It's not colorful.  It doesn't attract butterflies, birds and bees; only grubs and sod worms.  It's sensitive to temperatures.  Do these Suburbanites really
want all that grass growing there?

ST. FRANCIS:  Apparently so, Lord.  They go to great pains to grow it and keep it green.  They begin each spring by fertilizing grass and poisoning any other plant that crops up in the lawn.

GOD:  The spring rains and warm weather probably make grass grow really fast.  That must make the Suburbanites happy.

ST. FRANCIS:  Apparently not, Lord.  As soon as it grows a little, they cut it-sometimes twice a week.

GOD:  They cut it?  Do they then bail it like hay?

ST.  FRANCIS:  Not exactly, Lord.  Most of them rake it up and put it in bags.

GOD:  They bag it?   Why?   Is it a cash crop? Do they sell it?

ST. FRANCIS:  No, Sir, just the opposite.  They pay to throw it away.

GOD:  Now, let me get this straight.  They fertilize grass so it will grow.  And, when it does grow, they cut it off and pay to throw it away?

ST. FRANCIS:  Yes, Sir.

GOD:  These Suburbanites must be relieved in the summer when we cut back on the rain and turn up the heat.  That surely slows the growth and saves them a lot of work.

ST. FRANCIS:  You aren't going to believe this, Lord.  When the grass stops growing so fast, they drag out hosesand pay more money to water it so they can continue to mow it and pay to get rid of it.

GOD:  What nonsense.  At least they kept some of the trees.  That was a sheer stroke of genius, if I do say so myself.  The trees grow leaves in the spring to provide beauty and shade in the summer.  In the autumn, they fall to the ground and form a natural blanket to keep moisture in the soil and protect the trees and bushes.  It's a natural cycle of life.

ST. FRANCIS:  You better sit down, Lord.  The Suburbanites have drawn a new circle.  As soon as the leaves fall, they rake them into great piles and pay to have them hauled  away.

GOD:  No.  What do they do to protect the shrub and tree roots in the winter to keep the soil moist and loose?

ST. FRANCIS:  After throwing away the leaves, they go out and buy something which they call mulch.  They haul it home and spread it around in place of the leaves.

GOD:  And where do they get this mulch?

ST. FRANCIS:  They cut down trees and grind them up to make the mulch.

GOD:  ENOUGH!!   I don't want to think about this anymore.  St. Catherine, you're in charge of the arts.  What movie have you scheduled for us tonight?

ST. CATHERINE:  "Dumb and Dumber", Lord.  It's a story about....

GOD:  Never mind, I think I just heard the whole story from St. Francis.

HELL EXPLAINED BY UNIVERSITY CHEMISTRY STUDENT

I had sent this to my clients and after three people suggesting I post this to my blog... well here it is!  I hope it tickles you as much as it did me!

The following is an actual question given on a chemistry mid-term.

The answer by one student was so "profound" that the professor shared it
with colleagues, via the Internet,  which is, of course, why we now have the pleasure of  enjoying it as well:

Bonus Question: Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) or endothermic
(absorbs heat)?

Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle's Law (gas
cools when it expands and heats when it is compressed) or some variant.

One student, however, wrote the following:

First, we need to know how the mass of Hell is changing in time.  So we
need to know the rate at which souls are moving into Hell and the rate at which they are leaving.  I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to Hell, it will not leave.

Therefore, no souls are leaving.  As for how many souls are entering
Hell, let's look at the different religions that exist in the world today.

Most of these religions state that if you are not a member of their
religion, you will go to Hell.  Since there are more than one of these religions and since people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all souls go to Hell. With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in Hell to increase exponentially.  Now, we look at the rate of change of the volume in Hell because Boyle's Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in Hell to stay the same, the volume of Hell has to expand proportionately as souls are added.

This gives two possibilities:

1. If Hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls
enter Hell, then the temperature and pressure in Hell will increase until all Hell breaks loose.

2. If Hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in
Hell, then the temperature and pressure will drop until Hell freezes over.

So which is it?

If we accept the postulate given to me by Teresa during my Freshman year
that, "It will be a cold day in Hell before I sleep with you," and take into account the fact that I slept with her last night, then number two must be true, and thus I am sure that Hell is exothermic and has already frozen over.

The corollary of this theory is that since Hell has frozen over, it
follows that it is not accepting any more souls and is, therefore, extinct... leaving only Heaven, thereby proving the existence of a divine being which explains why, last night, Teresa kept shouting, "Oh, my God."

ALWAYS TRY TO DO YOUR BEST AT EVERYTHING

Make it your life rule of living to always do your best.

It's your constant effort to be first-class in everything you attempt

that will help you conquer the heights of excellence.

Let superiority become your trademark.

Do a little more each day than you think you possibly can.

There is always a best way of doing everything. Find it.

Do a little more than average and from that point on your progress multiplies itself out of all proportion to the effort you put out.

Do more than you're supposed to do and you can have or be or do anything you want.

If you want to enjoy enduring success, try traveling a little in advance of the rest of the world.

Your greatness will come from being great in the little things.

Transformation

"The man who removes a mountain begins by carrying away small stones."

-- William Faulkner

Longing for a miracle that will transform your life? Miracles happen, and if we don’t want that magic to disappear on us, we need to learn from each epiphany -- to integrate it, apply it, and build on it so we can permanently shift to a new level of being.

The real key to fulfillment lies in ONGOING transformation: building our awareness of daily opportunities to change our perceptions and raise our consciousness. Life is about dissolving the old and creating anew. The more we open to accepting and learning from every life experience, the more our lives transform.

"Enlightenment must come little by little -- otherwise it would overwhelm."

-- Idries Shah

Honesty

"Every violation of truth is not only a sort of suicide in the liar, but is a stab at the health of human society."

-- Ralph Waldo Emerson

What level of honesty are you living now?

How honest are you with strangers, institutions and businesses, acquaintances, friends, family, spouse?

How honest are you with yourself?

"Our lives improve only when we take chances - and the first and most difficult risk we can take is to be honest with ourselves."

-- Walter Anderson

THE FACE IN THE MIRROR -

"Our inability to see beauty doesn’t suggest in the slightest that beauty is not there. Rather, it suggests that we are not looking carefully enough or with broad enough perspective to see the beauty."

-- Rabbi Harold Kushner

Who are you? You can gaze at your reflection in a mirror but you’re not likely to see your true likeness. You are beautiful, unique, perfect. Do you see that?

The world needs you to see how whole and complete you are -- now. Can you begin to own your divinity? The world needs you to know who you really are so you can be the mirror for others.

"The sun shines not on us but in us. The rivers flow not past, but through us, thrilling, tingling, vibrating every fiber and cell of the substance of our bodies, making them glide and sing."

-- John Muir

Big mind, little mind

"It is the mind that makes one wise or ignorant, bound or emancipated."

-- Sri Ramakrishna

Zen distinguishes big mind from small mind. Big mind identifies with its process, is impersonal and participates universally. Big mind is unlimited possibilities, deeper understanding, forgiveness, acceptance, insight, connectedness, attention.

Small mind is self centred and focuses only on itself. It is compulsive, limited, reactive and mechanical. Small mind feeds on itself -- fear reacts to fear, judgment reacts to judgment, anger sparks more anger.

Always seek higher perspectives and you will in time find freedom.

"If a pickpocket meets a Holy Man, he will see only his pockets."

-- Hari Dass

"Minds are like parachutes; they work best when open."

-- Lord Thomas Dewar

As Taken From

The Daily Guru

"Never forget what you need to remember."

What do you want to remember from this past week?

Reflect on your experience over the last 7 days. What was memorable about it? Write a short summary.

If you are not learning and moving forward, you are unconsciously entrenching older patterns more deeply. You are actually going backwards. So take a few minutes each week to reflect on what matters most in your life.

"Memory is the cabinet of the imagination, the treasury of reason, the registry of conscience, and the council chamber of thought."

Love Is The Seventh Wave

aurora1

In the empire of the senses
You're the queen of all you survey
All the cities all the nations
Everything that falls your way
There is a deeper wave than this
That you don't understand
There is a deeper wave than this
Tugging at your hand

Every ripple on the ocean
Every leaf on every tree
Every sand dune in the desert
Every power we never see
There is a deeper wave than this
Swelling in the world
There is a deeper wave than this
Listen to me girl

Feel it rising in the cities
Feel it sweeping over land
Over borders, over frontiers
Nothing will its power withstand
There is no deeper wave than this
Rising in the world
There is no deeper wave than this
Listen to me girl

All the bloodshed, all the anger
All the weapons, all the greed
All the armies, all the missiles
All the symbols of our fear
There is a deeper wave than this
Rising in the world
There is a deeper wave than this
Listen to me girl

At the still point of destruction
At the centre of the fury
All the angels, all the devils
All around us can't you see
There is a deeper wave than this
Rising in the land
There is a deeper wave than this
Nothing will withstand

I say love is the seventh wave

COURTESY OPENS ALL DOORS

There is no investment you'll ever make that will pay you so well

as the effort to scatter sunshine and good cheer wherever you are.

The deepest principle in human nature is the craving to be appreciated.

If you treat an individual as if they were what they ought to be and could

be, they will become what they ought to be and could be.

Everyone thrives on being appreciated, loved and needed.

There is no stimulus like that which comes

from the consciousness of knowing that others believe in you.

Applaud others when they run.

Console them when they fail.

And cheer them when they recover.

As water is to a flower,

so is praise to the heart of another.

THINGS I JUST CANNOT EXPLAIN - MAYBE YOU CAN????

There have been many strange experiences in my life, and this one I'm going to share is one of my favorites.  I've talked to many people about this and to date, I still don't quite know what happened.

In June of last year (2006), I had done a healing session (which took over 5 days) on my mother.  During this period of time, many strange things began happening.  Now, strange things happen every day to us, many times we don't notice or logically explain it to ourselves.  That is my normal way of doing things.  I use logic to explain the unexplainable.

On the first day of the healing, it began.  I was sitting in a chair in the family room talking to my mom when the hair on the top of my head kept standing up.  I'd brush it down, it would go back up.  My mom observed this happen several times until finally I tried another chair, but.. it made no difference.

The following day, we took a drive to the old Mission to see an art show.  It was wall to wall and no parking.  But, I had said before we left, I'll lead because I always find the parking places.  Sure enough, I found two.. only 4 cars apart, just as I had promised and only feet away from the Mission.  That evening, when we returned home, as we walked up the sidewalk to the front door, the door opened.  There were 5 people with me and they all witnessed it happen.

The following days were quiet and no body wanted to talk about the front door, or my hair, or the parking place or the physical changes in my facial appearance that seemed to come and go.  It's ok to logic yourself to death on one thing.. but this was too much to logic away.

On the day that I left, I was driving north on the 101 freeway and vibrating very high.  My hands were buzzing like crazy from doing the healings and I was excited to be going back home.  Suddenly, a softball sized object which appeared to be white at a distance came straight for my windshield and smacked right into it.  It made a very loud sound and I thought for sure the object would have shattered my windshield but it didn't.  Then I thought, well maybe it hit just where the wipers are or something.

I exited at the next available exit to inspect my car for damage.  There was nothing.  Not a scratch, not a dent, in fact, there was no evidence whatsoever that my car had been struck by anything other than an over active imagination.  But I KNOW what I saw and heard.

For days I attempted to draw what I saw and still have not been able to quite get it, but I can briefly describe it.  As I said, the object was softball size and was round.  It appeared white from a distance, but as it came closer to the windshield I noticed that is was actually clear with a frosted sort of look to it, but it was the geometrical shape within the ball that really was the most fascinating thing.  The geometric shape could best described as a dodechahedrom.  I know, I know... giant word.  I searched for days on the internet to see if I could find some explanation for what had happened.  I talked to several friends and advisors on Keen to see if they may know anything, and the answers are as varied as the folks I talked to.

One thing I know for sure, I wasn't dreaming I was driving.  I wasn't daydreaming I was singing (well if you could call it that.)  I wasn't under the influence of any medication, drugs or alcohol, and it was daylight, clear weather and no traffice anywhere to be seen.  It came from somewhere and it wasn't my imagination.

What do I think it is?  I have many theories.  I'm more interested in what you think it may have been.

By the way.. as a side bar, the healing on my mother was short of miraculous.  In a two year period, she had slowly progressed from a cane, to a walker and was now heading for the wheel chair.  She and her doctors were running out of ideas of how to help her.  Today, my mother is walking without assistance and is back to living her life out independent of apparatus and has been able to reduce her pain medication to nearly nothing.  She’s not perfect by any means, but she has thanked me time and time again for giving her back her independence.  She walks regularly and has been able to let her house cleaner go as she can now do these things for herself again.
