Eclipses are important Astrological Events. Every month the Moon travels in her orbit completely around the Earth. Approxima- tely every six months, the three-dimensional reality of our universe comes alive as the Moon swings through the Earth's shadow. This is a Lunar Eclipse This can occur only when the Sun, Earth, and Moon are aligned with the Earth in the middle, when the Moon is on the far side of the Earth from the Sun . . or, when there is a Full Moon. Unlike a Solar Eclipse, a Lunar Eclipse can be observed from nearly an entire hemisphere. Unlike Solar Eclipses, Lunar Eclipses are completely safe to watch. Protective filters are not necessary and neither is a telescope. A pair of binoculars will magnify the view making the red coloration brighter and easier to see. The eclipse will be completely visible over Africa and Europe and South America. It could be seen rising over eastern North America.
This month’s eclipse is a prenumbral lunar eclipse that will take
place on August 5 and is the second of two Lunar Eclipses in this cycle of eclipses. It is rare that we have two Lunar Eclipses two months in a row. This Full Moon Lunar Eclipse will occur as the Moon passes through the constellation of Aquarius at 13º43’. At exactly 8:55pm the Sun will be moving opposite the Moon through the constellation of Leo at 13º43’. The Earth will be at exactly the same degree in Leo blocking the light of the Sun to the Moon as it falls in direct alignment at 13º43’ with the Sun and Moon. As we know, earthlings tend to be more emotionally expressive during a Full Moon.
A Lunar Eclipse strongly emphasizes this emotional reaction!! A Solar Eclipse is when the Moon is exactly between the Sun and the Earth and blocks the light of the Sun from the Earth. Solar Eclipses are very powerful New Moons and are known to herald significant endings and beginnings. Events that are triggered by an eclipse usually take six months to unfold, so you can expect this process of change to continue as you begin to feel like a flower opening its’ petals. Special opportunities to break old patterns become apparent as you begin to make major changes in your life. Metamorphosis is another word associated with eclipses. The Solar Eclipse on July 22, 2009 occurs at 10:35pm at 29°27’ degrees of Cancer. This eclipse will be visible across southeast Asia and the western Pacific and will last over 6½ minutes.

A Lunar Eclipse is when the shadow of the Moon is on the Earth. It occurs only when the Sun, Earth, and Moon are aligned with the Earth in the middle, when the Moon is on the far side of the Earth from the Sun: when there is a Full Moon. Unlike a Solar Eclipse, a Lunar Eclipse can be observed from nearly an entire hemisphere and is completely safe to watch with the naked eye. The moon looks red because while the Moon remains completely within Earth's umbral shadow, indirect sunlight still manages to reach and illuminate it. However, this sun- light must first pass deep through the Earth's atmosphere which filters out most of the blue colored light. The remaining light is a deep red or orange in color and is much dimmer than pure white sunlight and are powerful ‘course correctors’ meant to change your life.

Every month the Moon travels in her orbit completely around the Earth. The three dimensional reality of our universe comes alive in a graceful celestial ballet as the Moon swings through the Earth's shadow approximately every six months. This is a Lunar Eclipse This can occur only when the Sun, Earth, and Moon are aligned with the Earth in the middle, when the Moon is on the far side of the Earth from the Sun . . . or, when there is a Full Moon. Unlike a Solar Eclipse, a Lunar Eclipse can be observed from nearly an entire hemisphere. Unlike Solar Eclipses, Lunar Eclipses are completely safe to watch. Protective filters are not necessary and neither is a telescope. A Lunar Eclipse can be observed with nothing more than the naked eye. A pair of binoculars will magnify the view making the red coloration brighter and easier to see.
This month’s eclipse is a partial lunar eclipse that will take place on August 16 and is the second of two Lunar Eclipses in 2008. Most of Europe and Africa will see the entire eclipse. All of South America and Australia will be able to see part of it. This Full Moon Lunar Eclipse will occur as the Moon passes through the constellation of Aquarius at 24º21’. At exactly 9:11pm the Sun will be moving opposite the Moon through the constellation of Leo at 24º21’. The Earth will be at exactly the same degree in Leo blocking the light of the Sun to the Moon as it falls in direct alignment at 24º21’ with the Sun and Moon. Generally, Earthlings tend to be more emotionally expressive during a Full Moon. A Lunar Eclipse emphasizes this emotional reaction!! An eclipse occurs when the orbits of the Moon and the Earth align closely enough together with the Sun and the Moon to block the light of the Sun from the Earth (a Solar Eclipse), or the Moon (a Lunar Eclipse). Every month we have a New Moon, but only every six months do we have eclipses. A Solar Eclipse is when the Moon is exactly between the Sun and the Earth and blocks the light of the Sun from the Earth. Solar Eclipses are very powerful New Moons and are known to herald significant endings and beginnings. The ancient rule is that the effects of a Solar Eclipse last as long in years as the eclipse lasts in hours. Events that are triggered by an eclipse usually take six months to unfold, so you can expect this process of change to continue as you begin to feel like a flower opening its’ petals Special opportunities to break old patterns become apparent as you begin to make major changes in your life. Metamorphosis is the word associated with eclipse. The Solar Eclipse on August 1, 2008 occurs at 10:14am at 9°32 degrees of Leo.
