A lunar eclipse (Full Moon Eclipse) foretells that something is ripe for the picking. Circumstances and situations are coming to fruition! This can happen on a global level or if it aspects your chart heavily on a personal level. Remember, Eclipses are triggers, and you cannot trigger something in your chart which is not already there to begin with. If you are someone born very early in the signs of Virgo/Pisces/Gemini/Sagittarius, you might want to ask what you are attempting to "birth" in your lives, and what you are bringing to fruition.

The Light wants to flow into your life and to fill all your black holes. But you need to invite it in. You can do this by asking for help. The Moon moves into Taurus today again emphasizing our focus on the physical. Kabbalah calls this the 1% level, because although it is the “here” and “now” it is something that individuals we have an enormous tendency to focus upon. The New Age movement of the 21^st Century augured a time in which we would have an expansion towards the ‘Brotherhood of Man’, yet the first part of this Century has been more the expansion towards isolation. As we begin to have every digital, everything ipoded, everything based upon the new toys that we create, often times we forget the things that matter to us. What really matters to you? Today, we can use this energy to really take inventory of our lives and begin to push ourselves forward in a direction in which we do create a “brotherhood” environment by reaching out to the people around us and creating new values (Taurus) which really matter.

Sun Quincunx Mars

There is an interesting aspect which occurs today. The Sun in Capricorn Quincunx’s Mars in Gemini! This is a positive aspect because it motivates us to be inspired and make change. Anytime you have two fiery planets in aspect to each other, it puts forth enormous amounts of energy and enormous amounts of opportunities to adjust the way we do things and bring forth something new in our lives. Sun in Capricorn/Moon in Aries

As the Sun continues to move through the earthy sign of Capricorn, the Moon is currently in the sign of Aries. There is an interesting component to this combination. Mars, the ruler of Aries is the exalted ruler of Capricorn. I have explained elsewhere, what an exaltation means, so I will not explain it here, but the energy is vastly powerful and gives us a lot of power today to work with. Remember, that the Sun in Capricorn reflects our physical life and our physical world – it points towards our position in life and what we do to define ourselves. The Moon in Aries, is a highly emotionally charged placement, yet also gives enormous amounts of drive and determination. Combined these placements reflect our ability to go out into the world (Capricorn) and get what we want (Aries). Sit down today and reflect on what is that you truly want in your life at the moment. If you are seeking a new career opportunity now would be the time for you to start investigating these areas of your life. However, make sure you watch overreacting to the circumstances around you. Moon in Aries has a very knee-jerk reaction, so make sure that you sit and attempt to be calm as you go through your circumstances.

Mercury Shadow:

The planet Mercury is going to go into “shadow” today. Shadow is the degree to which Mercury will come back to during its retrograde process. You have a shadow period right before Mercury goes retrograde and right after it goes direct. Shadow periods often highlight the areas that Mercury will affect for you. So pay close attention to communication over the next 2 weeks.

Portion: Yitro

In Kabbalah, this week we move into the portion of Yitro. Yitro is one of the few names portions out of the bible that actually refer to an individual. This is very important as we learn through the Kabbalistic Masters that Yitro actually lived before. This could reflect a few things – revelation that we have been here before, or that we all have many lives through the course of a lifetime. For practical reasons, I believe that the later is probably the most applicable.

What does this mean? We live many lives during our lifetime. Well, simply put you are not the same person that you are 10 years ago. You grow and you change, and that you become stronger, more educated, and filled with worldly wisdom as you live your life. Every time that we begin something new we start a new “life” of sorts.

This week we are given a powerful opportunity. We can let go of the past and focus on the future. Are you hanging on to something from the past that you should move beyond? Do you have DEAD WORKS in your life? Take the time this week to let it go. Remember the experience and what you have learned out of it – and simply let go. You are a new person now! As the Sun continues its sojourn through the sign of Capricorn, and the Moon moves into innovate Aquarius, we are reminded to look at things from the larger perspective. Often times as individuals, we get very caught up in our momentary issues and momentary problems. Those problems could be our love lives, our financial lives, our health, or any other garden variety of problems the human condition experiences. We often get caught up in our momentary tribulations. The Moon in Aquarius offers us the ability to look at the larger picture, and begin planning in a more innovative manner than we have before.

What I do, during this particular combination (it only happens once a year), is I begin to look at my life in a realistic (Capricorn) manner. What are the problems currently in my life? What is upsetting me? Where are the obstacles? Then I ask myself, what could the bigger picture be? For example, often times when we are experiences difficulties in our financial lives is because we need to move beyond the comfort of our current position, and find something new that is more financially beneficial to us.

We need to THINK LARGE. We have a unique experience this year, to think (Aquarius) and manifest (Capricorn). Are you up for the challenge?

Mercury in Aquarius:

Mercury moves out of Capricorn and into Aquarius today. Aquarius is an air sign, which has to do with the mind, intellect, group consciousness, and our friends. Mercury naturally feels at home here, because he is in his own element, and in fact is considered exalted in this sign. However, Mercury spends an enormous amount of time in this sign do to its retrograde action (I will go into this in a later post).

What does it mean to be exalted? Any planet that is exalted in a sign is considered a special guest. It would be similar to The Queen of England visiting the United States. She is not the leader of the country, but she is held in “high regard”, therefore she would be “exalted” to a higher standard than other leaders. You can also use a metaphor regarding best friends. Even though your friends are often accepted and invited and part of your core group; a best friend is more considered family and holds an “exalted” status within your social group. Best friends would hold a higher significance in your home than your other friends would. So, Mercury feels good in Aquarius and is able to express (Mercury) itself in an expanded and innovative way.

Aries and Sagittarius: Mercury in Aquarius will offer you special opportunities to communicate in an effective manner. For Aries, you may find that communicating with your siblings and expanding your education are areas that you will be considering over the next few months. Take this time to use these opportunities to your advantage! If need to resolve relationships with your siblings you can use this transit to plant a more positive seed and begin the process of communicating in more of an effective manner. For Sagittarius, Mercury in Aquarius reflects a time to open up new friendships and join new social clubs. You will find others very supportive at this time.

Taurus and Scorpio: Mercury in Aquarius can be difficult for you over the next few months. There is a natural square (obstacles) between these signs, and you can find yourself at odds with people around you – especially family members. Take this time to keep the lines of communication open in a positive manner, remember squares are tense, yet provide us opportunities for growth. Ask yourself where you need to grow with your communication during this cycle. For Taurus, you could find issues regarding your home and needs for repair occur during this cycle; it is time to tidy things up and fix anything that you may have been putting off or avoiding. For Scorpio, you could find tension in the work place, and this might lead you to asking yourself questions about your future career decisions.

Cancer and Virgo: Mercury in Aquarius means that you need to make adjustments over the next few months. Mercury is naturally inclined towards the inconjunct (adjustments) aspect, as Mercury is known as a trickster. Astrological Energy

According to Kabbalists, the energy of Capricorn is one of the most negative of the year. Why? It is ruled by the malefic and oft-feared planet Saturn. Yet, it is through facing the energy of Capricorn and coming to terms with our Shadow that we have the greatest opportunities to bring light into our lives and as a result attract more inner happiness.

Today, as the Sun continues to move through Capricorn, we encounter the astrological phenomena of a new moon. New Moons are the beginning of a new cycle and they are great for starting things, based upon the energy that is governing them. Capricorn’s energy is structure, foundation, our position in the world, and the physical realms. So, if you are planning to begin a new business, start a new enterprise, begin that new year exercise plan, or start that new diet now would be the time for you to do so.

Kabbalistic Energy

It always amazes me when the kabbalistic energy fits right in with the astrological energy for the day, as there is a profound lesson that is revealed. According to Kabbalah, today is the day that Pharoah (another term for Jung’s shadow) is pursuing the Israelites through the desert. Yet despite all the things that had occurred up to this point, the plagues and the miracles that Moses performed, they are complaining (about the conditions of change in the desert) and wish to return to slavery.

How insane does this sound? They are finally free! They are embarking on beginning their new lives with new opportunities, challenges, hopes, and miracles. Yet, they wish to return to “slavery”. What does this really mean?

How many times have you given up something that was not working for you only to return to it, because it was easier to deal with the comfort of unhappiness than change? How many times have you quit smoking, gone on a diet, left a job, left a relationship, changed your life only to return to the circumstances you were unhappy with? Personally, I have done this many times and each time I have regretted it.

Today, we are provided with an opportunity and the energy to resolve our “inner” slavery. We can move beyond what we are unhappy with. Take this time to figure out what you would like to purge from your life, because it is not working for you. You will notice that even though you are afraid and uneasy about these changes, your new opportunities will be endless.

Today, the Sun continues its trek through the zodiacal sign of Capricorn and continues our focus on our physical lives. What is the physical life? The physical life is the things that position you – such as career, work, and money. It reflects everything in life that you can see, feel, and touch. The ruler of Capricorn, Saturn, is currently retrograde in the sign of Virgo, which is amplifying our need to analyze and ruminate over everything we “have” in our lives. Further, the Moon today is in emotional and hidden Scorpio, and begins a sextile aspect to the Sun. Sextiles provide us with opportunities, and these opportunities are for us to explore what we really want and take action. Take the time today to ask yourself deep questions about what you want out of your future. This configuration provides us the ability to create a plan, and we should all take stock of what we would like out of the New Year and come up with attainable goals for each of us to reach. I would like to thank all of the clients that I have been helping through 2007. Each one of you in your own way has helped me to explore myself on a deeper level. You get me to ask inner questions! You get me to love, accept, and be more humble on a daily basis. As one year comes to an end, it is our responsibility to review the energy of the year. 2007, numerologically speaking was a year 9. Now, I am sure you are asking – what does this mean? 9’s are numbers of sacrifice according to Kabbalah. It is a year, in which we are supposed to give to others simply for the sake of giving an expecting nothing in return. 9 is about learning to share and learning to love. It is also a year that we need to let go of the old and prepare for the new. This can be very difficult, because much of the time we wish to hang on to our own “stuff”, whether it is healthy for us or highly dysfunctional. We are creatures that do not like to change – yet it is demanded under this universal number principle. So, the simple key words for a year 9 is giving, loving, and letting go!

2008 brings us an enormous opportunity. It is about beginnings! What would you like to begin? Are there any changes you would like to make in your life? What path would you like to take? Remember, one of the most profound kabbalistic principals involves understanding the patterns going on in life and in the universe to be able to tap into and control our future destiny. The more conscious we are about patterns – the more control we have.

Spears Announces Pregnancy to OK Magazine!

For weeks the paparazzi has been stating that Britney Spears was pregnant yet again. A possible pregnancy which included evidenciary text messages and “sources close to” have been declaring that the 3^rd Spears baby was only a stork fall away. Yet, in shocking news, it is revealed --- A Spears baby is on the way, but it’s not Britney’s --- but her 16 year old sister Jamie Lynn’s.

OK Magazine is reporting that Jamie Lynn Spears' -- currently 12 weeks pregnant -- found out after she took an in-home pregnancy test and later doctor visit. Since then, she has revealed to her friends and family her current condition including a discussion with father, Casey Aldridge.

The most notable question asked by OK Magazine is regarding the message that Spears pregnancy sends to other teens about premarital sex. Spears responded with, “I definitely don’t think it’s something you should do; it’s better to wait. But, I can’t be judgmental because it’s a position I put myself in.”

Astrologically, Spears is going through transiting Jupiter opposing her natal Mars in maternal oriented Cancer. Mars, the ruler of her Aries Sun, shows that the events around Spears are going to affect her identity and the way others perceive her in a powerful manner. Jupiter, around the time Spears gives birth will be transiting her natal Uranus conjunction in Capricorn. Uranus breaks things up, it is shocking, and often changes an individuals life dramatically. This will be further confused by Neptune being involved. Spears will be faced with many questions, including what she wants to do career wise (Mars) in the future, as she is going to experience several problems with the public accepting her in an overtly child oriented show (Spears is the current star of Zoey 101).

A horary (A chart based on a question – in this case, How will this affect Jamie’s career) ran for her career was quite revealing as the house ruling Jamie was 19 Aries, which is exactly conjunct her natal sun. This according to both modern and classical astrologers denotes a chart that is highly radical or lacking in considerations against judgement. The significators of Jamie are Mars (ruler of Aries) retrograde in Cancer and the Moon in the 1^st house in Aries. This reflects that Jamie’s career is strongly in question, and news will be forthcoming towards the end of January. The Moon is the ruler of the 4^th house (endings and graves) which does not look promising for Spears current career path. In addition, Saturn the ruler of the 10^th house of career is in the turned 6^th house and common and cadent. Common and cadent planets result in a different circumstance that what one suspects. I feel that based on the horary chart, Nickelodeon will drop her from her television show Zoey 101, and most likely discontinue production. Spears career future despite her telogenic presence will have to be dramatically repaired before she can move forward.

History has not been kind to child stars who are out of the public eye. Dana Plato, The Brady Kids, and Danny Bonaducci are all victims of the cruelty of Hollywood, whom never forgives and always judges despite its members being ordinary mortals under the lens of a roving camera. Further, in an age of political correctness, it will be rough for Spears to move beyond a teenage image ruined by a pregnancy and a buying public (not to mention a TV network), which is concerned with traditional moral values for children. Despite Nick’s statement, “We respect Jamie Lynn’s decision to take responsibility in this sensitive and personal situation. We know this is a very difficult time for her and her family, and our primary concern right now is for Jamie Lynn’s well being.” It is highly unlikely that they will keep her on retainer nor will her show Zoey 101 survive such a volatile atmosphere.

Best Meteor Showers Visable December 13-14

What could be the best meteor display of the year will reach its peak on the night of Dec.13-14.

Here is what astronomers David Levy and Stephen Edberg have written of the annual Geminid Meteor Shower: "If you have not seen a mighty Geminid fireball arcing gracefully across an expanse of sky, then you have not seen a meteor."

The Geminids get their name from the constellation of Gemini, the Twins, because the meteors appear to emanate from a spot in the sky near the bright star Castor in Gemini.

Also in Gemini this month is the planet Mars, nearing a close approach to the Earth later this month, and shining brilliantly with yellow-orange hue. To be sure, Mars is certain to attract the attention of prospective Geminid watchers this upcoming week.

Reliable shower

The Geminid Meteors are usually the most satisfying of all the annual showers, even surpassing the famous Perseids of August.

Studies of past find the "Gems" have a reputation for being rich both in slow, bright, graceful meteors and fireballs as well as faint meteors, with relatively fewer objects of medium brightness.

They are of medium speed, encountering Earth at 22 miles per second (35 kps). They are bright and white, but unlike the Perseids, they leave few visible trails or streaks. They are four times denser than most other meteors, and have been observed to form jagged or divided paths.

Geminids also stand apart from the other meteor showers in that they seem to have been spawned not by a comet, but by 3200 Phaethon, an Earth-crossing asteroid. Then again, the Geminids may be comet debris after all, for some astronomers consider Phaethon to really be the dead nucleus of a burned-out comet that somehow got trapped into an unusually tight orbit. Interestingly, on December 10, Phaethon will be passing about 11 million miles (18 million kilometers) from Earth, its closest approach since its discovery in 1983.

The prospects for this year

The Geminids perform excellently in any year, but British meteor astronomer, Alastair McBeath, has categorized 2007 as a "great year."

Last year's display was hindered somewhat by the moon, two days past last quarter phase. But this year, the moon will be at new phase on Dec. 9. On the peak night, the moon will be a fat crescent, in the south-southwest at dusk and setting soon after 8 p.m. That means that the sky will be dark and moonless for the balance of the night, making for perfect viewing conditions for the shower.

According to McBeath, the Geminids are predicted to reach peak activity on Dec. 14 at 16:45 GMT. That means those places from central Asia eastwards across the Pacific Ocean to Alaska are in the best position to catch the very crest of the shower, when the rates conceivably could exceed 120 per hour.

"But," he adds, "maximum rates persist at only marginally reduced levels for some 6 to 10 hours around the biggest ones, so other places (such as North America) should enjoy some fine Geminid activity as well.

Indeed, under normal conditions on the night of maximum activity, with ideal dark-sky conditions, at least 60 to 120 Geminid meteors can be expected to burst across the sky every hour on the average (Light pollution greatly cuts the numbers).

The Earth moves quickly through this meteor stream producing a somewhat broad, lopsided activity profile. Rates increase steadily for two or three days before maximum, reaching roughly above a quarter of its peak strength, then drop off more sharply afterward. Late Geminids, however, tend to be especially bright. Renegade forerunners and late stragglers might be seen for a week or more before and after maximum.

What to do

Generally speaking, depending on your location, Gemini begins to come up above the east-northeast horizon right around the time evening twilight is coming to an end. So you might catch sight of a few early Geminids as soon as the sky gets dark.

There is a fair chance of perhaps catching sight of some "Earth-grazing" meteors. Earth grazers are long, bright shooting stars that streak overhead from a point near to even just below the horizon. Such meteors are so distinctive because they follow long paths nearly parallel to our atmosphere.

The Geminids begin to appear noticeably more numerous in the hours after 10 p.m. local time, because the shower's radiant is already fairly high in the eastern sky by then. The best views, however, come around 2 a.m., when their radiant point will be passing very nearly overhead.

The higher a shower's radiant, the more meteors it produces all over the sky.

But keep this in mind: At this time of year, meteor watching can be a long, cold business. You wait and you wait for meteors to appear. When they don't appear right away, and if you're cold and uncomfortable, you're not going to be looking for meteors for very long! The late Henry Neely (1878-1963), who for many years served as a lecturer at New York's Hayden Planetarium, once had this to say about watching for the Geminids: "Take the advice of a man whose teeth have chattered on many a winter's night – wrap up much more warmly than you think is necessary!"

Hot cocoa or coffee can take the edge off the chill, as well as provide a slight stimulus. It's even better if you can observe with friends. That way, you can keep each other awake, as well as cover more sky. Give your eyes time to dark-adapt before starting.

Mars Retrograde: Welcome to Fight Club

If you have never seen the movie “Fight Club”, then it is recommended viewing to fully understand and comprehend Mars on its deepest level. As researching Mars retrograde on the Internet provided very little information, and it’s most notable action is the capacity to start wars between countries. Perhaps this is because nobody really wants to become involved with the messier more destructive side of human nature. The side that is aggressive, brutal, and often emotionally manipulative wrapped up in a package of passive aggressive behavior and political correctness. Yet, nature does not really care about the “human condition” as it does about patterns and Mars Retrograde (Nov 15 – January 30) occurs whether we want it to or not.

Working with Mars creatively is often a good means through which to approach this planet. The realm of mythology and fairy tales are filled with creatures, Gods and literary figures that embody the expression of the planet, yet I think the figure of Ares (the God of War) from Greek Mythology stands out the most. In fact, in Homer’s, “The Illiad,” he is described as a 300 foot brutal, hairy, sweaty being which lusts and devours human flesh, yet he was honored and held a prominent place in both Greek and Roman cultures as do all the Gods of War. Why? War was personified as the glorious expression of the human fighting spirit. Ares was revered because he stood for not only our struggle for survival and champion of the weak and less fortunate, yet he defends both our integrity and our will to survive. Without him alive and well (and without a Mars you could say) we would have nothing to fight to make each of us special, unique, or vibrant individuals.

On the planetary level, the expression of Mars in the horoscope is an expression of us receiving from life what we desire. It is the desire principle, and his only function is to go out into life and get the Sun (the center of individuality in the horoscope) what it needs for fulfillment. This not only comes from our ability to get what we desire, yet also defend ourselves from a hostile world, which is not only competitive, yet its fundamental opposed to individual expression. Our need to fight comes packaged up in many worldly ways such as fighting for our families, countries, or religious principles. So Mars is the fighting principle for our need for self definition, individuality, and survival, as Mars is the “henchmen” of the Sun and gives us our ability to define our own goals and values effectively and succinctly.

When Mars is retrograde it brings to the surface those issues where we are blocked from getting what we desire. This can come in a variety of shapes and sizes, such as career dissatisfaction, relationship disappointment, financial woes, or even personal dissatisfaction. However, despite the frustrations it is also a time where we are forced to re-analyze what it is that we truly want out of life. As was stated earlier, nature is not really concerned about the individual, yet about patterns of the larger core of life in general, therefore it provides us with tools that if we can face what they require gives us an enormous breakthrough in our future. Mars retrograde is one of those tools as frustrating as it can be. If we can face our struggles, Mars gives us the ability to change our lives. As Mars promises whatever we desire from life we have some chance of getting it.

This Mars retrograde occurs in the sign of Cancer, which is a water sign. Whenever Mars is in a water sign its energy is very fluctuating as water by nature is fluid and has no shape. Mars in this element is also very sensitive to the environments around it. Therefore, you need to analyze your current situations! Are you happy with your environment? Mars in Cancer is very sensitive, gentile, and diplomatic, and areas of sensitivity, gentility, and diplomacy are often highlighted during a retrograde period. Often it comes to our attention through its opposite manifestation – insensitivity, roughness, and aggression. We can find ourselves during this cycle in an inner war of facing our own values and what they mean.
