Hi! I'm Pat Friend, About's Guide to Irish Culture. I'm an American of Irish descent, Irish culture enthusiast, and published genealogist. Exploring Irish culture and history has been a lifelong adventure for me. I grew up surrounded by Irish-American influences and have since studied Irish history, culture, and traditions, successfully incorporating what she has learned into my ongoing family history research. I am the mother of three school-aged children, including two daughters who have brought Irish culture alive in our home with their study of Irish step-dancing.

I am not the world's leading expert on Ireland and Irish Culture but I do know a lot about it. I am also quite knowledgeable about Irish genealogy, that is, how to go about figuring out your Irish family history. If I can't answer your question I'll let you know.
