An Ear 4 U Past or Present Abuse Hurting You?

It can be very difficult to let anyone know when you are being abused. Not all abuse is physical. Many times it is emotional, mental, or just a matter of being controlled by someone for their own feeling of power and/or security. Childhood abuse tends to affect our lives in many ways. During our time of forming our personalities we learn many things that hinder our growth into safe, happy, and healthy human beings. Although it is difficult for women to tell anyone about past or present abuse it is even harder for men to talk about as they feel that they are more alone or that they should have done things to protect themselves as well as society still looking at men to much like they shouldn't express emotions especially those of fear and emotional pain. I have been in an abusive marriage that was all emotional and mental as well as one where it was nearly all physical abuse. One of those husbands suffered through considerable emotional and physical abuse at the hands of his mother and repeated the emotional and mental abuse. The other suffered physical abuse at the hands of his father and repeated all of it. I understand much of how you feel. It does help to talk through it and know that you are not going to be judged for your feelings.
