As you know, your dog is a domesticated wolf. Wolves are carnivores. Their digestive system is completely different from the human system. Just as different actually, as that of a horse!
You do know you are not supposed to feed a horse hamburgers. It does not digest meat at all.
But your dog is just as badly off with grain products! A natural diet will not contain any more grain than what is contained in the stomachs of the rodents a dog would catch. Nevertheless, grain products of some kind constitute 70-80% of all commercial dog foods...
The old myth telling that dogs get vicious when being fed raw meat is BS. They fact is that they treasure it so much that if they have been fed none of it for the longest time, they get very protective about it and want to do anything they can to ensure that they will get the chance they need to eat it.
The facts are that dogs fed regularly on a natural raw diet (including raw meat, raw bones, raw vegetables, and raw animal fat), will live 30% longer that dogs fed even "the best of kibble", and their owners will experience vet bills at a level of only 10-15% of the "normal" level... More than 90% of all skin problems disappear when you shift to a natural diet. More than half of all allergies become history. The dog's immune system gets significantly stronger on a natural diet. In fact, everybody in the pet industry benefits from your feeding an artificial convenient fast food to your dog - except the dog and your wallet...
Feeding a healthy natural diet is not tricky. Anybody can do it with a little help in the form of some fundamental knowledge. Your veterinarian is sort-of right when he advises you to not feed your dog people food or table scraps - but the full truth is that you can put a very healthy natural diet together for your dog out of ingredients you can buy inexpensively in most supermarkets!
Let me help you get the clues you need, so you can enjoy seeing your dog enjoy its life more fully, much longer, and without any extra hassle or cost for you!
Cheers and woof,
Mogens Eliasen
PS. Please don't think that RAW is unhealthy for a dog. It might be for you, but the dog's stomach has some extremely strong chemistry that makles it impossible for natural bacteria to survive getting down there! That's why dogs generally don't get sick from eating many kinds of raw food that would be dangerous for you to eat...
