I provide Expert Advice with a primary focus on the use of Microsoft Excel® as a tool of choice in business analysis, presentation and process automation endeavors. I also consult on longer-term, project-based engagements involving financial, operational or system issues and have built advanced Excel and Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) solutions in all these areas. The customers I seek are those that want to save themselves time and their companies money with more productive and analytically effective work. I offer: a) dual certifications in Excel: 1) from Microsoft (Microsoft Office User Specialist - "Excel Expert " rating); and 2) CyberTech Institute ("Excel Master " rating); and b) over 15 years of real-world, hands-on experience as a CPA, Controller and Chief Financial Officer, developing spreadsheet and VBA solutions and integrating Excel within existing business processes (or creating new ones) while mentoring others in the advanced use of Excel. FYI: While the dates of those Feedback comments below will confirm that my Ingenio presence has, at times, been intermittent, I've just concluded a long-term project that should allow me greater Ingenio availability (I've been hard at work, finishing "DataSmiths Evolution", an alternate User Interface for Excel that increases user productivity by some 75%. While Ingenio frowns on third-party links from their site, if you would like further information on this program, remember, Google is your friend ... ;--).
A Note on Expert Advice: As I write this, the billable time necessary to resolve my customers' issues currently averages less than 4 minutes. That said, it's been my experience with every expert advice solution I have had occasion to access (and mine is no different) that some questions may not be immediately answerable, or may require a fair amount of time to describe, diagnose and/or solve. Additionally, some questions may involve some research and that can best be handled off-line (i.e., there may be no value added by my keeping you on the phone while I research your issue or analyze/modify a file you have emailed to me). And all of that occurs in an environment where your goal is to find a solution in the shortest amount of time possible (after all, you came for Expert advice and, in my opinion, receiving that advice as quickly as possible is part of the deliverables expected from someone holding themselves out as an Expert). I am pleased my customers have awarded me a cumulative 5 Star Rating as an Ingenio Advisor; I think that is indicative of not only the service provided but also of my commitment to finding their solutions as quickly as I can.
However, I will say that there may be questions I can't answer within any time/cost limits you are comfortable with. Also, there may be circumstances that can't adequately be described without emailing a copy of the file to me so I can see what you are seeing - and if you are unable to forward a copy of the file due to confidentiality reasons, I might not be able to answer your questions as timely as what might otherwise be possible (Note, however, that as a former Chief Financial Officer and CPA, I am accustomed to dealing with privileged, confidential, work-product and/or trade secret information of a proprietary nature). I know, too, that sometimes customers have files that are larger than some Internet Service Providers allow to be sent or received via email - if that's an issue, let me know as I have a workaround for this situation.
To try and avoid any occasion for a potentially dissatisfied customer, I would ask that if you aren't satisfied with the progress we have made at any time during the first 5 minutes of your call, just tell me you don't think we are going to be able to find a solution at a price you are willing to pay and I will send you a free offer for the minutes you spent with me for use on your next Excel issue.

He knows his stuff. Pointed out things I should have done
before even starting. Then helped me to remake what I did
into something usefull.
Did all this without embarrasing me. Demonstrated the
difference between the people who use spreadsheets and
those who understand spreadsheets.
Would highly recommend him.

What I particularly liked about Excel Guru was that he
didn't know the answer to my problem (which was a rather
abstruse complex formatting issue) but that he worked on
it until he understood it and could explain it to me.
My problem got solved and I am a happy customer.
