Greetings
from the land of leaves, lighthouses, and lobsters!
I'm Kim Knox Beckius, and since 1998, I have produced About's New England for
Visitors Web site at http://gonewengland.about.com,
taking Internet users on a virtual tour of New England and providing the Web's
worldwide audience with lively, weekly commentary on travel and events and
insight into Yankee traditions, history, and ingenuity. My first book, The Everything Guide to
New England, a travel guidebook covering all six New England
states--Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and
Vermont, was published by Adams Media in April 2002.
I grew up in New York's Hudson Valley and have always enjoyed exploring
neighboring New England. IN 1996, I relocated to a Hartford, Connecticut, suburb
and gained an even more central "catbird seat" from which to observe
and explore the region. In addition to my travel writing, I have also worked
previously as a newspaper correspondent, a history teacher, public programs
coordinator at a Hudson Valley historic mansion, corporate communications editor
at a public electric and gas utility company, and as a marketing and public
relations consultant.
Whether you're planning your first trip to New England or your 50th, I can
help provide you with tips on regional events, where to see fall foliage, how to
choose a destination, where to find vacation packages and deals, and point you
in the right direction to research and select lodgings and things to do and see.
I look forward to helping you plan your visit to the region I love and call
home.
See you in New England!
Kim Knox Beckius
