I am often asked about how I got the name, Snowfire Lioness, well, the Lioness part comes from my childhood, a young friend of mine, John Bruce S. (now crossed over), fathers' was involved with the Lions Club, we used to help sell the candy canes for the blind every Chrismas, and gave out the White canes every spring. John and I were good pals, we would write poetry together, and we both came up with a "Snowfire Lion" poem. The poem was about a Lion that did good works and helped others. Which goes something like this: Softly with precision the snow fire lion walks with proud determination the enemy he stalks, snowflakes melt beneath his paws as fire fills his veins, the king, the sign of Leo, courageously he reins. He can be playful, proud father, mate and friend, give him cause to anger, he'll fight you to the end. Symbol of strength and courage a hard head he can be, the snow fire lions respected and a great celebrity. By SF and JBS
The Snowfire part goes back even further, to an ancestor, William Clark, the second half of the Lewis and Clark expedition, they would make these little fires in the snow to keep warm, and they just got to calling them, "Snowfires." Back around that time, it was also said the Indians watched a snow covered mountain top sending fire into the sky, and so they called that snowfire as well. Then in the middle fifties a sweet movie about a little girl and a wild white horse came out, the movie was of course called, Snowfire. When I was young I was nick named Snowie by my mother, because in those day's, I really liked playing in the snow, not to mention my wintery birth. Sometimes, when I was bad, which was often, my mother called me, Snow Fire! for my firey temper. Eventually, I got stuck with the name, Snowfire, and my old name was soon forgotten.

For those who have lost loved one's through crossing, here is a little poem my grandmother wrote, it will ease your heart:
"I cannot say and I will not say, that she is dead...she is just away. With a cheery smile and a wave of the hand. She has wandered into an unknown land And left us dreaming how very fair it needs must be since she lingers there, and you-O-you who the wildest yearn For the old time step and the glad return. Think of her fairing on as dear in the love of there as the love of here. Think of her still as the same, I say, She is not dead...she is just away." M.R.S.
