This announcement took me to a place of concern for my ability to reach my personal and business monthly goals; how will this effect me and how will this affect my clients?
I turned to my calculator and did the math; this 3% increase in cost of doing business translates to an increase in monthly revenue for Keen of near $560.00 and that much less for me only if things remain unchanged as far as my ability to get the number of minutes I set as my daily goal with the current featured list price remaining the same. Any fluctuation in those figures alters my income.
There are three options available to me: Be angry about it (not an option conducive to success as success flows towards happiness), increase my per minute fee by 3%, or eat the fee and work 3% more minutes (this option requires that there are 3% more minutes per month available to me).
I'm undecided on which route I will take. Time management budgeting will need to be adjusted if I opt for eating the increased cost of doing business expense but that only adds a few hours more spent working each month to cover this hike. If I introduce a rate hike to my clients it increases their expense. I may split the cost.
The best way to deal with this for me is to evaluate my personal and business goals and act according to what is in alignment with those goals. There is a solution for every problem; Keen is seeking to drive more traffic, could get me the extra hours I'll need to work if I do nothing. If the traffic does not come then I will have to increase my rate.
Complaining is certain to not get me anything and it will make success run from me because anger repels success.
