The New Year is here and the Holidays are over, many of you are indulging in retrospection and reevaluating some life choices. New Year’s resolutions are the perfect way for all those who have failed to start making the changes that they said they would make next week, next month, or EVER.
New Year’s resolutions don’t have to be just activities, and they can be professional to personal and everything in between. From helping others (giving of yourself) to being kinder to yourself (giving to yourself), there are so many possibilities to choose from.
Well, now’s your chance to sit down and prepare a list of important lifestyle changes you want to make!
Below is a list of a few common and not so common New Year's Resolution ideas!
SET A BUDGET:
Budgeting is not always the most fun thing to do ( I hate it), but at the end of the month when you don’t know where your money has gone, you’re going to wish you’d kept an eye on it. The trick is not to make your budget too tight (I’ve done that and wasn’t able to stick to the plan). Instead, budget for social gatherings and any unplanned events.
IMPROVE YOUR FITNESS:
Everyone knows that regular exercise has more health benefits than anything else out there. Studies have shown that improving your fitness also improves your mood, mental state and reduces the risk of potential health concerns, not to mention it keeps you in shape. It’s easier than ever to find the perfect fitness program, many of which don’t require any gym memberships and minimal equipment.
LEARN SOMETHING NEW:
Have you promised yourself that you'll learn something new this year? Maybe you're looking to take up a new hobby, go to paint and sip class, or learn to speak German. With the power of the internet, anything is possible. On a personal note.. Last year I got an amazing camera, but I never really took the time to learn how to use it! This year, I will master it!
Being single is so 2018. Make 2019 the year you meet that special someone. You don’t have to be the kind of person who can just start chatting up someone you find cute in a coffee shop, or that hottie by the bar. There are plenty of online options to help you find a partner. Many of them help break the ice by offering personality tests to show you who you’d be most compatible. You can always call me, here at Keen and I can guide you to the "ONE"..

There are scientific studies that show the many benefits of meditating. To name just a few, meditating helps to improve your mood, it reduces stress, it lessens anxiety, and it even increases your brain’s grey matter — which is involved in muscle control, sensory perception, decision making, and self-control. In addition, once you get the hang of it, meditating is easy to do. And the breathing exercises, really help when you are in line at the store..lol
BE MORE GRATEFUL:
If you haven’t climbed aboard the gratitude bandwagon yet, 2019 is the year to do it. There are studies that show that gratitude can make you 25% happier. Think about that for a second: you can be 25% happier simply by taking the time to count your blessings and think of all the good things in you life! WOW.
Being grateful will also help you to overcome adversity, improve the quality of your sleep, and allow you to get along better with others.
SPEND MORE TIME IN NATURE:
We were not made to be cooped up inside all day. Spending time in nature makes you happier, it boosts your immune system, and it even makes you more creative. Make a promise, that next year you’ll be spending more time outside (and just opening the windows more often doesn’t count). Take a walk by a lake, drive up the mountain and sit on a rock for a few minutes, go to the beach and put your feet in the sand!
Not all New Year’s resolution ideas are created equal.
The New Year is an inspiring time to make a change in your life for the better. Use the tips above to create your plan for making 2019 the best year yet.
Will you be trying any of these goals for 2019? What’s your simple resolution?
