He proposed that we all have different &#8220;dialects&#8221; for expressing care. For these folks, small, non-sexual gestures\u2014like a hand on the small of the back, a long hug, or playing with their hair while watching a movie\u2014are the ultimate &#8220;I love you.&#8221;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Acts of Service:<\/strong> For this type, talk is cheap, but doing the dishes is priceless. Whether it\u2019s bringing them a glass of water or handling a stressful errand, they feel loved when their partner eases their daily burden. <strong>Pro-tip:<\/strong> Discuss expectations here, as &#8220;service&#8221; looks different to everyone.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Gifts:<\/strong> Often misunderstood as materialistic, this language is actually about <strong>thoughtfulness<\/strong>. It\u2019s the &#8220;I saw this and thought of you&#8221; energy. A $2 sticker can carry as much weight as an expensive watch, provided it shows you truly know their heart.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Words of Affirmation:<\/strong> Dust off your poetry notebook! These people need to hear\u2014verbally or in writing\u2014why they are appreciated. From a simple &#8220;You look great today&#8221; to a heartfelt letter about how they&#8217;ve changed your life, no amount of verbal praise is too much.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Quality Time:<\/strong> This is about <strong>undivided attention.<\/strong> It\u2019s not just being in the same room; it\u2019s being <em>present<\/em>. This could be a day-long museum excursion or a quiet night on the couch with the phones put away.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-why-it-matters\"><strong>Why It Matters<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Your love language doesn\u2019t have to match your partner\u2019s for the relationship to work. However, it <em>does<\/em> require a translation effort. Just because you aren\u2019t naturally inclined to write love notes doesn&#8217;t mean you can\u2019t &#8220;rise to the occasion&#8221; to make your partner feel special.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The more you
