If you’re new to KEEN or have never had a psychic reading, you may be shocked to learn that there are different types of psychics. It’s true! Not all psychics are created equal, nor are their psychic abilities equivalent to one another.
On KEEN, you will find a variety of advisors with a wide array of specialties. We’ll break down some of the different types of psychics you’ll encounter so you have a better understanding of what type of advisor is right for you.
Clairvoyant (from French clair meaning “clear” and voyance meaning “vision”) psychics are able to see things that may not be apparent to others through visions or visual impressions. This is an inner seeing intuitive ability. Clairvoyance can be very subtle, for example, a clairvoyant may see signs, symbols, or colors, but not recognize immediately what these images mean. Clairvoyants, essentially, are “seeing clearly.” In other words, they are receiving their information through means other than the known senses.
Other terms for clairvoyance: psychic eye, psychic vision, third eye
Clairsentient also known as Psychic Empaths are attune to detecting subtle changes in the energy vibrations of those around them. Not to be mistaken with the basic human emotion of empathy, the main difference is that clairsentients often pick up non-visual, non-verbal cues that another individual is feeling pain, fear, or joy. Sometimes this is a matter of detecting energy fields or auras, other times, it may be simply a case of “knowing” that the person is feeling a certain way, despite no obvious clues to that effect.
Other terms for clairsentience: empathy, intuitive empath, or spiritual empath
Clairaudience, meaning “Clear Hearing,” is the ability to hear voice in your mind. Clairaudients have the ability to hear things that are outside of the normal range, for example, hearing from persons who may have passed on or even spirit guides. It is thought generally that clairaudients hear thoughts and or voices of incarnated humans, but is not restricted to such. It can also be the communications of other octave/vibrational/plane entities. Clairaudients can and sometimes do confuse their own subconscious thoughts for exterior forces, but the truly skilled can differentiate between what is internal and what is external.
Other terms for clairaudience: psychic hearing
Claircognizants, also known as “Clear Knowing,” have the ability to know certain things without being told or without any tangible evidence or facts. Consider this an inner knowing. For claircognizants, their higher self or Spirit Guides place information in the form of thought into their mind. Sometimes that information is smaller insight regarding people or situations and can sometimes be inspired by ideas. All claircognizance is characterized by a strong sense of knowing that travels beyond logic. Claircognizants receive their intuitive information into the thinking mind, not into the heart or the mind’s eye.
Other terms for claircognizance: spiritual psychic, spiritually inclined
