Easy Ways to Practice Meditation and Mindfulness

Many of my clients are interested in pursuing their own connection with the Universe by improving their intuition. Some are simply interested in changing their mental patterns.  Many of us do not have the time or the patience to sit and meditate.  This may be the result of having many responsibilities such as work, raising a family, relationship commitments, and more.

Here are a few exercises you can easily incorporate into your life and the lives of your children:

Exercise 1:  When you’re in the shower, think good thoughts.  Imagine the water cleansing your mind and body.  Think how all and any stress, illness, negativity, fears, resentment, and anxiety is being washed away and replaced with peace, good health, positivity, love, and joy. This is also a good time to talk to the Universe, God, Angels, Jesus, or whomever you pray to and feel drawn to.  Ask what you need help with or give thanks for what you have. Have gratitude (it’s the best attitude).

Exercise 2:  When commuting, listen to the sounds of nature beyond the traffic, horns beeping, and cars running.  Try and pick up on the trees shuffling its leaves, the water moving through a stream, the birds chirping, and the animals moving around.  This will teach you to tune out the “noise” and tune into the Universe.  You can also use this time to talk to a Higher Power or give thanks. Be thankful.

Exercise 3:  Try “visual meditation.”  This is when you take a moment to look at something, whether it’s the nature outside your window, a painting in your office, a picture in your wallet, or anything you find pleasurable and relaxing to look at.  Take 5 minutes, once or several times throughout the day, to “visually meditate.” This will help you ease and relax your mind.  Humans frequently forget the impact of what we view with our eyes on our subconscious.  When we focus on improving our subconscious mind, a few minutes can go a long way.  It is also a good idea to keep a photo of something you desire (like a diploma, a new car, a dream home, a dream job, etc.) at your desk or in your home. Manifest your thoughts.

Exercise 4:  For those of you that are candle lovers, you can use your favorite scents to center yourself.  Candles are an excellent way to help improve your intuition.  At night, light up a candle, preferably a white one.  It can be as small as a tea candle, just make sure it’s safely placed away from anything flammable.  Once you light the candle, look at the flame and close your eyes.  Try to hold on to the picture of the flame in your mind’s eye.  Keep practicing nightly.  The longer you hold on to the flame in your mind’s eye, the more you strengthen your intuitive, meditative, and focus active ability.  Look within.

Exercise 5:  Grab a clear plastic bottle of water and remove the wrapping.  Use a permanent blue marker and write a message on the bottle for the day. Some of my favorite things to write are: “This water is blessed to receive the energy of love and positivity,” “This water is blessed to receive the energy of abundance,” and, “This water is blessed with the energy to receive healing.”  This works because water is a pure and powerful element that can absorb any energy you put into it. By blessing the water then drinking the water, you are blessing yourself and the positivity is manifesting. Stay hydrated.
