Mercury in Leo: Is It All About You?

Mercury is the planet that affects the way we communicate. When it is moving through a particular zodiac sign, it influences people and events on Earth in synch with that sign’s characteristics. The sign of Leo is regal and carries authority. Mercury begins its visit to Leo on July 17. It will be there until August 2. While it is there, communication on Earth will have a self-centered tone. No matter how charming or persuasive a person might sound, the core interest being expressed while Mercury is in Leo is self-interest.

The five senses are ruled by Mercury and this will allow us to pick up on clues people give as they communicate; clues regarding their true intentions. The other side of Leo, though, is a caring and tender protector. While people may be speaking out for their own best interests, they often will have the foresight to know what is best for you. This is a trait of the Leo that allows them to be such great leaders. One word of warning: It is difficult for Leos to take criticism and when Mercury is in Leo, communication may be taken quite intensely even if you try to assuage people that you are only offering constructive criticism.
