Keen Cares Event 2016

The holiday season is a time for giving– we felt that we should use our platform to promote that very spirit.

The Keen Cares event happened on #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media. We engaged our entire community to come up with a cause that fit within our values at Keen. We asked our community at large to suggest some organizations that we can dedicate our fundraising efforts to on this day of giving back. The responses were overwhelming and wonderful. With lots of thoughtful consideration, Kiva was chosen.

Kiva is a non-profit that allows individuals to fund micro loans for people around the world, often in developing countries. These loans, mostly for only a few hundred dollars, help people in developing countries start businesses, fund education, and enrich their communities. These loans help make a difference in the lives of the entrepreneur and that seed grows to help their community at large. Kiva couldn’t have been a better fit for Keen.

We work to empower individuals to make connections that create powerful, positive changes in their lives. When one of us works to do better, the rest of the community benefits as well. Our advisors enrich the lives of our seekers by providing insights into troubles they face and an ear to listen to the troubles they have. Our seekers take that insight and use it to improve their lives and spread that to their local communities.

We took a portion of the proceeds from all transactions on Giving Tuesday with a goal of raising $20,000. We are proud to say that the response was so great from our community, that we’re upping our donation to $25,000!

The event may be over, but we’ll continue to work enriching the lives of others. Keen participates in a local Food Drive going on currently for SF and Marin county food bank, and we will be participating in Adopt a Family again.

We are blessed to have such a strong and caring community. Let’s continue to spread the good deeds and help make the world a better place.
